Batting glove for golf

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I've been thinking about trying to use a underarmour batting glove for golf. I always go through golf gloves pretty quick usually wearing out in my palm area. Thought a batting glove would last longer. Do you guys think the glove would be to thick, that's really the only difference I could think about. Let me know what you guys think.

way too thick and bulky - how many rounds are you getting out of your current glove? which glove are you using?

Personal preference I guess, but I use the thinnest gloves possible for feel regardless of how quick they wear out...couldn't imagine playing with any padding on the palms of my hands.

I've worn almost every FJ glove going. Ranging from $13 to $40. Usually after 1 round the palm is showing wear, 3-5 rounds and at least a small hole is occurring. may be partially my grip on the club and grips I use but still. Thought maybe a thicker glove would last longer but I understand the batting glove may affect feel.

Yikes. I'm no expert but something tells me something is wrong. Incorrect grip and/or way too tight grip pressure.

I went to a golf expo in Omaha earlier this year and one vendor, can't remember the name, had gloves that had a cabretta leather palm that was textured similar to many baseball batting gloves. Actually looked like a batting glove. This thing was super soft and maintained the same feel you'd get with a FJ and they said it was washable. They wanted like $23 or something close so I passed on buying one. $15 Stasof is my choice.

Don't wanna sound like an a$$, but try hitting balls without a glove.

I played for years playing with gloves then tried a few rounds without one. Beat thing I ever did. The feel is incredible and pitching and chipping is even better. We mostly putt without a glove because of feel right? So why not go for it on all your swings? Try it at the range first with a bucket of balls. Think of all the $$ you'll save...

No, the purpose of a glove is grip. We don't wear it for putting because there isn't a bunch of force with a putter swing. NFL receiver gloves are incredibly tacky and last way longer then leather golf gloves. And in my opinion/experience, if I am wearing a glove with my top hand (for me it is my left hand), this isn't my "feel" hand because it is my control hand. I want as tacky and grippy a situation as possible.

Bionic gloves are made by Hillerich and Bradsby, aka Louisville Slugger. I think they are the best marriage of batting glove and golf glove technology and demands that you will find. They cost more, but last at least twice as long as a standard golf glove, maybe more depending on the individual.

Don't try one unless you are willing to use them forever; they are that good.

Too tight or too loose a grip. Too tight would not be good for your game but likely would not wear the glove too much. Too loose would cause the grip to move in you hand during the swing- causing abnormal wear.

Too thick for me personally, however, I have also used a Motocross Glove in the past when I ran out of gloves lol

That something wrong is most likely sweating. I sweat a lot and use a few gloves on rotation each round because if I sweat through one and keep swinging, the leather gets so soft it rips right through. People who don’t have this issue often can’t comprehend it and assume your grip is jacked up lol.
