How did Hogan square up the face at impact?

He had a weak grip and a cupped left wrist at the end of his backswing. Both factors for an open clubface at impact. To top it all off he started his downswing by rotating his left forearm counterclockwise which opens the face even more on the way down, but brings the hands very close to the body.<br />
<br />
When I do that I hit huge blocks and push slices because the face is so open at impact.<br />
<br />
So how in the **** did he square up the face?

    Rotating left forearm counterclockwise 'opens' the face......... Really?

    If you are shallow like hogan then the face will automagically square imo

    because Hogan changed his swing path with those adjustments. Quit harpooning the ball with the butt end of grip.

    Precisely ... from delivery through post impact, it's handpath to third base, clubface to second base (for a rightie).

    He had a weaker grip, but it has been documented that the grip was quite a bit more neutral than he discussed.<br />
    The video of Hogan hitting balls into the ocean shows this pretty well.<br />
    <br />
    There is a great video of Hogan squaring the face with pure leverage online.<br />
    Look up Slicefixer webinar part IV. You'll see how his wrists are set and are being transported through the ball with little hand or wrist movement. His pivot is dictating this move.<br />
    <br />
    Having the grip a little weaker allowed him to rotate as aggressively as he wanted to without fearing the left side of the course.

    <br />
    That petter7 guy called us Hogan forum guys lacking in our swing analysis... and he called our buddy pingg10guy clueless, that wasn't cool at all. It's funny b/c he thinks SvS got banned here "twice" ROFL...

    No I did not. On the contrary, what I said exactly was...<br />
    <br />
    Quote: "I believe PingG10guy was correct in describing your (Texsport) one long post as being a collection of vague generalizations."<br />
    <br />
    It was Texsport who called him clueless...<br />
    <br />
    Quote: "PingG10guy doesn't have a clue!<br />
    <br />
    Then after that post by Texsport, I replied...<br />
    <br />
    Quote: "PingG10guy was spot on with his comment about your post."<br />
    <br />
    <br />
    Get your facts straight ej002 before you decide to publicly ridicule someone.

    He's not. This has to do with an exchange between PingG10guy and Texsport here on wrx.<br />

    That is the exchange that I talked about over at BSG with Texsport and I agreed with PingG10guy's comment: "That's a great collection of terrible generalizations.<br />
    <br />
    It seems ej002 has a slight aversion towards me and some of the things I say over at BSG. This time he was mistaken and got things mixed up a bit.

    I'm through the first 4 pages so far and it's looking like the same old chit , I could point out the most obvious contradiction in the thread but it is pretty pointless . I think so far petter has shown restraint . The 5 lessons stuff is likely more geared towards the high shooters , particularly the supination pronation extension flexion

    Ok thanks for the link , painful read . Svs is getting railroaded . Tapio claims he knows it but contradicts himself over the years , a complete moron with zero athletic ability to move a golf club . Probably the single worst swing I have seen on someone claiming to be a golf pro/ instructor , ok maybe not the worst

    No aversion. Just reporting the facts. We have poor swing analysis and apparently reading analysis.

    Apparently. I agreed with PingG10guy and never said he didn't have a clue. It appears you completely missed that "fact" or you're just disregarding it.<br />
    <br />
    I didn't use the word "poor" I said lagging behind. That comment was put mildly that there is an absencse of anatomical movement/biomechanics expertise.<br />
    <br />
    Wasn't targeting you or anyone in particular, but I get the feeling you want to make it sound worse than it really was and make it appear to be harshly hypercritical.<br />
    <br />
    PingG10guy might consider it a terrible generalization. I think there's some truth to it, but said without malice. Nice cut & paste. Couldn't you have made it a bit larger?<br />

    Everyone seems to really like it. Not one single negative reaction. Well, except for a couple over here at wrx.<br />

    That seems to be the concensus…can't figure out why. I like many different parts of a female's anatomy. <img src='http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
