Oban Kiyoshi Purple vs Tour AD MT in a Ping i25 Driver

hi guys, i need some input from playing reviews to personal pref and hwy.

i am ordering a new ping i25 driver and am interested in these 2 shafts. More so the oban purple. heard really good things about feel. The ping i25 is a low spinning head. so i dont want a low launch low spin shaft because the ball will die. I had an Adams Super S driver last year and bought a Tour AD BB shaft without be able to try it and while the shaft felt great, it was a low launch low spin shaft in a low spin head and it didn't work out. not enough height to carry.

i am averaging on the monitor with pings shaft PWR 75 non tour, about 265 carry 11 deg launch 2600 spin with a 10.5 driver in stiff. but noticed their shaft did have a nice ball flight and roll out. Not sure to stick with pings shaft or splurge on an oban. for the 340 up charge will i gain that much? i also like the look of the purple and black. looks count for something as well as we all know.

The Oban purple 65 is advertised as a mid launch low spin shaft weigh in 69 grams in stiff.

The Ping PWR 75 only shows launch on pings website and it weight 70 grams in stiff

i have used a mid 60 gram shaft. i had an aldila phenom 63g in my driver last year in a cobra amp cell pro and worked out great.

thanks for the input.

other personalreviews of other shafts brands on low spinning head welcome.

I currently have a bio cell with a kiyoshi purple 75 stiff tipped 1".
I get a mid to high flight with low spin, at build my numbers were 13.8 L, 2350 S
Low launch / low spin heads and mid flight shafts with low spin work well for me
You mentioned the aldila phenom - I currently have the 70 gram S in my FW and 100 gram S in a hybrid, both work very well

I owned the Kiyoshi purple this winter, and my experience was that it was more high launch and spin, in an Amp Cell Pro head which was lower spin. I was bummed as I loved the feel and the color looked great, but it spun like crazy for me so it was a no go. In hindsight I probably should have tipped it or waited for spring to see outdoors ball flight, but I wanted something else so it had to go. Could be completely different for you, but that was my experience.

did you own the 55, 65 or 75g?

the 55 is a High launch mid spin
the 65 is a mid launch low spin
the 76 is a mid/high launch and low-mid spin.

i tend to get a little to high spin rate on a driver for example i know shafts are completely diff but with bg bertha stock fubuki the ball ballooned with 3800 spin and no roll, with pings pwr 6 shaft, 265 carry 14 yds roll, 2400-2600 spin.

I wanna say it was a 75G, 04 Flex. I had read that the purples played stout to flex, especially in the 70 gram line, but I didn't find that to be the case. Again, in hindsight I probably should have held onto it, tipped it and tried again. I was getting a mid launch ball with an early to mid flight upshoot, if that makes sense or you can picture that, just didn't work for me.

Kiyoshi purple spins more than most people claim, not really high launch/low spin. May be a better fit for you; compared to the Tour AD MT, I would say the purple will feel firmer.

how in you opinion would you compare it to the TOur ad MT?
in the purple i am looking at the 65g 04 flex which claims to be mid launch low spin. the 55 is high launch mid spin.

thanks.

still need help, what shaft do you think would perform better in the low spinning head of the Ping i25? the oban purple or Tour ad MT? i don't want to feel boardy i want a good feel. unfortunately no one around here has these to try but i have narrowed it down to these 2.

I can also add that the tour ad MT will not feel boardy. It is very smooth!

I only tried the Tour AD MT for a bit, so don't have a full session to compare against. Transitioned from the Kiyoshi to a GD Tour AD P9003 shaft and frankly I like the feeling of both; they are distinctly their own. If I were you, I would go with the Kiyoshi on this...feel you may get a bit less spin than the MT.

Attas T2, Attas3, Attas 4u, Attas 5 will all be ultra smooth and will get the ball in the air and have a low-mid spin effect. The T2 is similar to the Kiyoshi as well as the Attas 3 which has a little stiffer midsection which will generate a little lower flight. The T2 can be picked for around $125 brand new. Great shaft
