Rory and Woodland's Metal Soft Spikes

I notice that Rory and Woodland (and I'm sure many other pros) have soft spikes with metal centre cleats. I've tried to find them on google, but no luck. Does anyone have any info on these?

Would these even be allowed at a soft spike only facility?

no they wouldn't, unfortunately I know from experience.

These things are ridiculously fun to wear. I don't mind people wearing them but I do mind when it looks like someone moonwalked across the green with these things on.

Absolutely night and day traction wise. My back foot slips a lot but when I wear these I don't have to worry one bit, I just can't wear them a lot due to my club being a soft spike only facility.

You can get them pretty cheap on eBay.

I have worn these spikes in the past and love them. After wearing these you realize why a lot of pros still use metal spikes.

[/quote] I see some of the older guys dragging their feet around my club. It makes me lose my mind! I can just imagine how much worse the damage would be with these. I'm really tempted to try these, as my feet slide too.

When it is wet, I just wear soft spikes in the clubhouse to check in, and then change to a pair of shoes with these spikes at the first tee box.

If you know how to walk, these are actually better for the greens than soft spikes.

Very big difference, especially when it is wet.

My back foot slips like crazy in regular soft spikes, last year I slipped so bad I was lucky I didn't blow out my knee. So I put these on the outside of my right shoe, haven't slipped since. I definitely try to keep them quiet when walking near the clubhouse though.

Same, I put the champ stinger spikes on the heel area of my Lunar Control's, only 2. But the course was not having it. I understand.

I just switched shoes in my trunk to the stock soft spikes.

I have them in one pair of shoes, i will keep them off the pavement so they are quite around people them fine rest of the place. gives you great grip on dry days.

These spikes could be a reason for knee problems. If your front foot gets stuck in follow through it could get ugly like it happened to Rory today

No doubt.

The traction is used for walking slippery grassy slopes etc. that you find on a golf course. The spikes aren't actually for your swing. It's so you don't fall down walking up and down to raised tee boxes and raised greens and the like. If you were in a cart, you shouldn't need spikes at all.

At your first lesson, the pro will say, "Uh, try not swinging out of your shoes."

They aren't better for the greens, and why should everyone else follow the rules when you don't?

I bought these not realizing that they were metal spikes. Just kinda grabbed the pack quickly.

I actually like playing with them. They really do help walking on the slopes as well as the occasional foot slip whilst swinging. The only drawback is that they are a bit loud when walking on any pavement

Please please please don't wear these at soft spike-only facilities. Please. And pretty much everywhere is a soft spike facility now.

Only on golf w r x would you have guys still wearing metal spikes bc they can't swing without them hahaha I swear....

If I caught you wearing these at my course or changing into them on #1; I probably wouldn't even give you the opportunity to change your shoes, you'd prob get the boot for being a conniver. That's just ridiculous. Everybody and their mother knows you can't wear nails anymore.

The only people I have ever seen slipping while swinging have been one of two things:
1. Wearing tennis shoes with wet conditions.
2. Hammered drunk.

To repond to the post above, I give you a quote from Stripes "Lighten up Francis," everyone knows these were banned for clubhouse's flooring being destroyed. What about you old farts with bad backs sticking their putters down the hole to lift out the ball destroying the continuity of a round circle to putt into?? Give me the mini spike mark over a destroyed hole any day. Nails do hold down loose feet on wet tee boxes (that should be watered so you do NOT have to use a hammer to place a tee), on the greens do NOT drag your feet young bucks.....
