Backwards hat

Can someone please help me understand the purpose of a baseball cap being worn backwards? I'm not some old crumudgin yelling at kids to get off my lawn, but I just don't understand it. The topic even came up at work the other day and no-one could come up with a good reason other than you don't want to comb your hair.

I see it at all ages, and what is worse the guys that are my age (40) out at restaurants or bars at night with this look.

I just realized I don't care about this at all. I bet the
backward hat is on the head of a guy with an untucked
shirt with cargo shorts.

Not that I care, wear what you want. Just want to understand.

It's like why do dudes wear pants hanging off their butts...the world will never know. However, I turn the hat backwards when I run, so it will keep the sweat out of my eyes.

Maybe they want to look 'cool'

Looks cool I guess. I never really even thought about it before. People have been wearing them like that for as long as I can remember.

I've done it (not playing) when I needed to keep the heat off a sunburnt neck.

Why does there need to be a "purpose"?

There are a lot of styles I can't even imagine why people wear them they look so ridiculous/ugly to me: wing tips, plaid pants/shorts, buzz cuts, cowboy hats/boots, flatbrim hats pulled down over their ears, etc. But none of these do I think there is a "purpose" to other than the wearer likes it.

Obviously, you have never watched Over the Top then you know what happens when hats are turn backwards..

I will be honest. I wear my hat backwards some times. It is actually more comfortable that way. But yes totally defeats the function. But since when was function an important part of fashion?

for me it is turned around when working on my car, at the gun range, painting and for some reason the wifey digs it sooooo that, in and of itself, is reason enough for me.

We may not agree on pace of play, but we seem to be 100% on the same page when it comes to what people are wearing. If they like it, good for them. Doesn't impact me (maybe if their pants and underwear are so low I can see stuff I shouldn't, that might impact me) at all.

I've thought about this entirely too much, but I did arrive at the following. There's really only two practical reasons to ever wear a hat backwards: first is to accommodate a catcher's mask. And second, to keep rain from dripping over the golf ball when you putt. Everything else is fashion and personal preference.

Why do some wear them sideways, or crooked? Why do Rickie and Hunter wear hats with flat brims? I know I do not like flat brims, I want to take them and roll them traditional and proper-like. And I do not care for hats worn crooked or sideways, plus I can't think of one practical reason for wearing a hat sideways.

But sometimes I will wear mine backwards when I putt, whether it's raining or not, because for some reason I believe it helps me focus.

Aim High was it when I joined then it changed to no one comes closer (false). However, I was talking about how a marine is never an ex marine just a former marine
