Baltimore, MD and Congressional

All, I'll be in Baltimore in mid-August for a few days. Looking for a place to get in a round of golf. Any recommendations are welcome. Would like to stay within a hour of downtown Baltimore.

Also, is Congressional accessible to the public this time of year? No? Is it if you have your pro call (I know it depends in certain circumstances). Just curious...

Congressional is private and I think your chances are pretty slim trying to get on through a pro. Basically you need member invite. If your staying in Baltimore I would suggest making the drive up to Bulle Rock (about 30 minutes) instead which is a great, and also difficult, public track.

To the best of my knowledge Congressional only reciprocates with Chevy Chase CC and Columbia CC. Anything else would be on a case by case situation. They are really pretty tight on non-member play which is understandable. I live in the area and belong to another club and the two clubs that are pretty much closed are Congressional and Robert Trent Jones.

Bulle Rock, no doubt!

Another favorite of the MD guys is Worthington Manor in Urbana, which is about 50 minutes from downtown. They routinely host USGA qualifiers and the course is in top-notch condition right now. And yes, it looks like this all the time:
