Soft travel bags Caddy Daddy Constrictor

Recommended Posts

I want to know if anyone uses a soft top travel bag like the one here...

http://www.rockbottomgolf.com/caddy-daddy-constrictor-2-wheeled-travel-cover-bag.html

I am thinking of buying this one since it such a good deal. However, I am apprehensive b/c I have only used huge hard cases in the past and fear damaging the sticks with a soft case. My other problem is you can't fit hard shells in anything but a suburban. This looks a lot smaller and more reasonable for on the ground transportation then a typical hard shell 'coffin' case.

Does anyone have extra info or review of how their soft travel bags have done? Main concerns are protection, size and price. (Those might be the only possible concerns for a travel bag lol).

Thanks Guys

Go for it!

my ogio soft cover travel bag and i have taken several long flights together, including transAtlantc, without incident.

Get a Stiff Arm, or make your own equivalent with a 2x2 or an old hockey stick.

As you say, hard shell bags become an enormous logistical challenge (pain in the neck) the minute the airplane arrives at destination

Hey thanks for responding. I also talked to a buddy of mine who uses a soft cover all the time. He said he wraps club heads with towels or clothes. Didn't sound too sturdy to me. I liked your stiff arm suggestion better. Also like the hockey stick idea too but I sold all my hockey gear years ago.

Bought the bag and a stiff arm.

Thanks again for the reply

Good choice. I just flew to Atlanta and back, using this to hold my clubs. The bag has plenty of space (it fit my SM Hybrid and plenty of extra gear with ease) and it came in plenty under the 50 lb weight limit. I made my own stiff arm using a 1" dowel with a tennis ball on top, took the club heads off of my adjustable driver and 3 wood, and put the rest of the clubs in the bag upside down (club heads in the bottom, shafts sticking out the top). Add in some towels on the top and the rain cover, and your all set. TSA didn't find it worth their trouble to go through all the upside down clubs, and left it alone. The bag held up great, and more importantly my sticks remained in perfect condition.

Thanks for the reply, good to hear this bag works well. I like your idea of switching the clubs to head down. I have a 14way bag though so I break out an old carry bag to try that.

[/quote]My SM Hybrid is a 14 way as well. It was a bit interesting getting all the irons out, but a little patience and everything came out fine.
