Louisiana Golf

Anyone on here golf often in or live in Louisiana? If so what part and course? I live in Louisiana and was just curious how many of us are on the site. I would have posted this in the regional forum, but it looks like that is not frequented nearly as often as the general golf board.... And Now it seems this has been moved here to this board. Sorry for any confusion.

Answering my own question, I'm in central LA and play at Links on the Bayou and Oak Wing mostly now a days.

I'm down by New Orleans in Slidell. Home course is Oak Harbor, but I'm only 35 min from MS coast and downtown NO so I play a lot of different courses. Playing time has dwindled now that it's boating season

I live in NO and usually play at TPC.

I live in Alexandria and play at Oakwing

I lived in Baton Rouge for awhile. My favorite is Beaver Creek in Zachary. I'm also a big fan of Pelican Pointe in Gonzales.

I played beaver creek this past summer a couple times and I liked it pretty good. Fairly easy to get off the tee if I remember correctly. Was able to keep it around par I believe. Also Played copper Mill down there and enjoyed the scenery and played very well... Tough track though ha. Never played pelican. I've heard its very nice though.

You a member out there? I don't get out there NEARLY as often as I'd like to or even used to, but I've always been a fan of that course and it's staff.

While I've got all you Louisiana golf hounds in one place: I live in Jackson, Miss., which of course is close enough to drive across to Louisiana when I've got a good reason but far enough that I wouldn't want to do it just for the heck of it.

What's everybody's honest opinion of TPC Louisiana? I've heard a lot of reviews that are uncharacteristically critical for a TPC facility, and I neither want to drop $125-ish nor spend six hours driving roundtrip for a letdown. On the other hand, I usually love Pete Dye's work, and I'd hate to pass up a nearby course of his on hearsay alone.

Alternatively, I've heard good things about the Bluffs in St. Francisville, and I'm open to other worthwhile suggestions as well. Pretty much everywhere in Louisiana, other than the southwest area of the state, is fair game. Thanks in advance.

I'm in Greater New Orleans- Play TPC, LaTour, and Riverlands (member) All good courses

layingfive- don't pay $125 for TPC you can routinely get on for $69-$79 its worth it for that.

Can anyone recommend a Country Club in the New Orleans area? Getting relocated to Nola for ~3 years for work so starting to hunt for one. Considering paying the yearly fee to play at TPC, but curious what else is around. Coming from Houston I'm spoiled in that my CC has 4 courses and I pay 350 a month as a young executive member. From a quick search it seems I'll have to lower my expectations in Nola.

Thanks for the input. What's the drive like to there from uptown?

About 20min depending on how many lights you hit.
The TPC deal is pretty good, there are some nice benefits to the "members"

I'll need to make it back out to English Turn to see if they are working on anything in particular.
