Heading To San Antonio in Mid October. Thoughts on TPC courses?

Heading to SA in mid October to visit a buddy. He works at the La Cantera Resort courses so we are going to play a couple rounds there.

Really want to get on the Oaks course at TPC SA but don't know anything about what I can expect for conditions in SA in October. Has anyone played either TPC course in the last week/month?

Also, I believe it is private but you can gain access through staying at the JW Resort? I also have a MasterCard Elite credit card, that may get me access as well? How have you gotten on in the past?

Do you remember what the rates were like? I've seen reports of $120 up to $175.

Finally, what do you think of the course (Oaks)? Especially when considering the higher price tag? What about compared to Canyons? I believe they also offer a $35 replay. 36 in a day?

The La Cantera courses are the only ones in the area I've played before but I loved both of them. Played the Palmer course in 40 degree weather/high winds on dormant greens. That thing was a BEAST!

TPC courses blows the La Cantera courses out of the water in terms of difficulty. Both are top notch class.

TPC is by far the best courses (actually both of them) in all of SA area. I miss that place so bad!

Well, thanks for the feedback but turns out I'm an idiot. TPC was closed in advance of the AT&T Championship this coming weekend.

Golf wasn't the top priority of the trip anyways. We ended up playing two rounds at the Palmer course at La Cantera and one at the Hyatt Hill Country Course. Both courses were in good shape, but the Palmer course is waaaaaaay more scenic.

Just an excuse to get back down there, I guess!
