Course photos with a GOPRO

Recommended Posts

Would it be worth monuting a GOPRO on the cart to capture course photos as you play, I have played a lot of nice courses and never ended up with any decent photos because I get wrapped up in playing and forget about the camera.

Anyone have experience with doing this ?

What where the results like ?

Any tips for the best results ?

Thanks

strap it to your head (if you have the mount), set it for interval pics every 5 sec, 1 min, etc. Will fill up your SD card for sure. Will give you some intersting perspectives throughout day. hope that helps

(I used one for video (not stills) a whole season in our golf league....if you want to see on youtube I'd be happy to link to it (or look up Thats Too Fah Golf).)

lol @ the guy wearing sandles around 430ish or something of the sort. Cool video though.

My wife just randomly got me a Hero3+ Silver and I am still trying to figure out what I'm going to do with it. I like the view you had where you could see the course and the left front wheel. Did you use a suction cup mount on the cart?

I'm thinking I'm going to wear the head mount and do a 9 hole time lapse montage. I could probably do 18 when I buy my extended battery (wasabi extended 3400mAh)

Hey guys! I went to Kohler last May to play Whislting Straights and BlackWolf Run. I decided to use my GoPro camera, which I usually use for my fishing trips, and this is what I ended up with. Enjoy!

Great video. My dad and I made this same trip in June. This brought back many great memories from that trip. You guys look like a fun crew to play with lol.

[/quote]yeah, we have some characters in our league.....that was a public muni that didnt care thankfully :)
Lots of fun different angles to shoot. lots of trial and error to be honest. after shooting a lot of footage, the closer the better since the lens is so wide.
the cart view was a suction cup, yes. I learned the hard way that golf cart can lose the grip on the suction mount.....fell off while driving, thankfully in the fairway though.

Appreciate the vids! I'm usually the guy with the camera taking the pictures and video of my friends as they play and of the course. Although I don't interfere with them them or the pace of play they still roll their eyes when i get the camera phone out to take some shots (no pun intended). They are however very happy when the round is done and I am filling their inbox with pictures and videos or their swings. Unfortunately the other guys in my group arent picture takers so I don't get many of myself so I am looking into getting a Go Pro for next season to put on the cart (both riding and walking) so that I can get some shots of myself. I know, how vain of me...haha! The only suggestion I would make as for as you guys making and posting videos (and this is just my preference) is that instead of adding a music soundtrack just keep it as is. I'd much rather hear the sound of the clubs hitting the ball and the comments afterwards whether it's in praise of the shot or giving each other a hard time after a tremendous slice! Maybe I'm just nosy but that would be my preference.

Congratulations on your great and inspiring production!

You captured the experience beautifully.

I'm thinking of trying something similar.

I'd use the soon to be released Giroptic 360* emersive camera - capturing the view in every direction.I could even broadcast live!

http://www.giroptic.com/

On such a difficult course, my musical accompaniment would be "Learn How To Love" by the awesome (Susan) TEDESCHI (Derek)TRUCKS BAND.
