That's my favorite course in the LA area, having never gotten on any of the really awesome private clubs. When I lived out there (for 6 glorious months, 5 winters ago), I joined their men's club and played some of their tournaments. My ace was on #4 there. It's a really fun Gil Hanse design, and it's pretty playable for people of all skill levels.
Awesome I can't wait to play it. Hopefully the rain is minimal and the course is dead for us!
Oh yeah, my new Byron is here, and I love it. It's looking like it might be playable on Sunday, so I might take it for a spin sooner than expected.
That is sick 🤤🤤🤤
That is so nice 3JP. I would love it in my bag with a flowneck.
He can do that—saw one posted on the Byron IG page about the same time as mine with a flow neck. The long pipe seems to be a good fit for me. It helps me to not pull it back inside when I start the stroke.
3 jack, looks like you have a picture of a cock on the toe of your putter. Lol

Lol, it’s a bomb, for all the bombs I’m sure I’ll make with it
Or when you putt like dick you can say it’s a cock
Good luck reselling a cock putter when you start hating it!
But really, when is that ever going to happen?😬
Rustic Canyon was fun. The weather wasn't great but it never rained hard enough to quit. The course conditions were just ok but I think that was from all the rain they've had in the last couple weeks.
It was definitely difficult getting up and down when short-sided. I struck the ball pretty well after getting an ugly double bogey out of my system on the first hole, but quite a few of my well struck approach shots, especially on the back, flew the green and left me with nothing.
I ended up shooting 41/41
i hope someone told you the most important piece of information about the course before you played — everything breaks toward the entrance to the property (except #17, which does the opposite). This time of year, some of the grass starts to go dormant, so it’s not always the prettiest.
Anyone else play in Michigan yesterday? I got my December round in. Played terrible, but fun anyway.
Yea, never really got that warm. Good time though, I hadn’t been playing at all last few months.
Yeah the grass was dormant, but that's no big deal. It was more dead/mud spots in the fairway and washed out bunkers which I assumed was rain related.
I didn't get any advice on breaks but luckily I putted awesome. I was 8/8 on 6-12 footers. Unfortunately they were all for par or bogey haha.
I made a last minute call to go out yesterday. Walked 22 holes, because I was jumping around a bit to different holes to avoid a few larger groups that were out. Hit the ball quite a bit better than the last time I played 2-3 weeks ago, and made about a 12 foot birdie putt on my first hole on the first putt I ever struck on grass with the new putter. I'm trying out new shafts in the driver and 3 wood, and a couple of new wedges, and didn't bother keeping score, but it was good to get out.
How was that driver shaft? I hit mine great yesterday, couldn't buy a putt and shot 76. I also hit the LS the other day at Miles, man does that thing have some fade bias in it. Assuming your still playing a cut it probably works great for you? I have a demo + head for now, I couldn't even turn over the LS the few times I hit it.
I hit it at Carl's against the Rogue Silver I've been using, and according to Trackman Range, the Synergy Green is quite a bit longer (like 10-15 yards of carry), and it did seem like I was getting more distance yesterday, though it's hard to tell with the cold, wind and wet ground. I started off yesterday hitting a couple of big draws, then got it dialed in for a few holes, and then started losing it right a few times as I got toward the end of the round. None of the misses were terrible -- I played all 22 holes with the same ball. I need some more time to get used to it, but it seems like it will be a good fit. The 80TX version in the 3 wood seems like it really agrees with me, I hit it maybe 4 times (once off the deck), and only one of them wasn't right where I wanted it, and I like the ball flight a lot.
I've found the LST is pretty neutral. I have it in the -1.5* setting, which is the most open one, and the weight in the neutral position, and I can get it to turn over sometimes. Sometimes when I don't want it to, and sometimes I've tried to do it, and it starts right and goes right. The moral of the story is that I kinda suck.
got 18 in @ the Grande what a december treat.
Weather for Monday and Tuesday look playable. Merry Christmas boys!
I was hoping to get out today up in gr. Unfortunately nothing is open. Hoping for Tuesday now.
Played the Legacy in ottawa lake today...51 degrees and a one club wind.
Ground partially frozen and a few holes in the shade still had a trace of snow.
Slow greens but not shaggy. Acceptable conditions for late December.
Got a round in today, absolutely gorgeous weather. My frustration with not being able to ice fish quickly vanished after my first tee shot.
Didnt expect to be able to break in my new Xmas present the day after the holiday, but I might be in love with the Gapr 2i.
Can anyone recommend an instructor near Ann Arbor for a beginning woman golfer?
My wife's friend is interested in taking up the game and is wisely going to start with getting lessons.
What about one of the women or beginner camps at miles? Otherwise there's a million teachers there, I can ask which ones are the best with beginners.
Yeah that's a good idea. She needs to buy clubs too so they can also help steer her in the right direction on that.
does your buddy play? It’s not hard to scoop a couple year old set, driver, one wedge, putter. The GF has been playing the Amp cells from cobra. Nothing too big or obnoxious but nothing too hard to hit. With a lower speed an actual club fitting isn’t important.
Ill PM you who my buddy that works there says is best.
My buddy does not play, but I'm hoping his wife will get hooked and suck him in. We work together and therefore travel together a decent amount so it would be awesome to have someone else to golf with when we're on the road for a week.
Has anyone done a wedge fitting at Miles of Golf? I wanted to do it soon but was wondering if they take you to chip/hit off grass in the summer. I think that is an important part of wedge fitting, but if they don't do it either way I would prefer to just get it done now. Also would appreciate any general comments on the MOG wedge fitting.
