I'm trying to only drink every other day, or at least only drink one beer and I have to have worked out prior that day. Gotta have some rules in place lol.
Is anyone's courses still allowing walking?
Walking, no golf. Hiked Sharf today.
it could always be worse, till the courses open cheers!!
Can I go to Ohio and golf? 60 degrees 5 days in a row is tough to stomach without being on the course.
I heard no available tee times through the weekend, my buddy tried to make one. We’re still running a don’t ask don’t tell walking policy with no flags but I don’t think that will last long. Between the number of non members out there yesterday and the likelihood an **** calls the cops I think I’m screwed shortly. I saw state cops in the sub yesterday which I’ve never seen before. But by all means trespass on the course with your dog and your kids riding bikes on the path!
My course will let members walk. No guests, no pins, I don’t know what the course conditions are yet. Sucks
I find it stupid that you can have a near-unlimited amount of people out walking the golf course, but nobody can play actual golf.
We can only hope.
For a person like me, who has an injured right ankle, and with age it has become somewhat arthritic. I would have difficulty walking 18 holes, or even nine holes. I know that's my issue, but I hope if golf comes back, according to the governor, they will at least let people use power carts. It's a bugger getting old!
Can’t even walk now. Got this yesterday from our general manager.
“Unfortunately, there have been concerns expressed to the Dearborn Police by the homeowners and we now need to close the golf course to walking to comply with the Governor's office. This closure is for all Members, guests and homeowners.“
I don’t know if the homeowners wanted to have the whole course to themselves or what but if that was the case then the jokes on them!
My employer is shutting down all next week and I fully intended to “walk” the course at least a few days.
Crazy! I don't think that will happen to us being as it's part of a public university and there are no homes on the course...but nothing surprises me anymore.
From a local Instagram golf guy:
"I read a few articles online and seen some tweets from one of the guys at 97.1, They all said Whitmer is thinking of opening the courses after the 13th of April when the first "stay at home order" expires. A few representatives close to Whitmer are pushing her to open them too. Of course if they do, they'll be strict rules similiar to those in Ohio and Indiana."
Now this could just be rumors, but I'll take positive rumors over negative ones. 🤞
It may fall on deaf ears but I emailed my state rep and told him to urge the governor to open courses. If his fellow state rep says why not it should be easier to get everyone on board.
The cool thing is that your state guys (or at least, mine will) have the ability to make time to contact you back, and specifically address your concerns! I've spoken on the phone twice now with my State Rep, over various issues that I've written about. The State Senator has about a 50% response ratio, which lets me know he's thinking of me, although he went the other way on the few things I've emailed him about. Still nice to know he cares :)
I’ve heard the same. Tuesday or Wednesday is when we are supposed to find out. I’m ready if only to get all the non members off my course haha.
If they decide to allow courses to open, I hope they announce it on Tuesday, so we can take advantage of the high 60s temps on Wednesday...
With this week expected to be the worst of it, I highly doubt courses will re-open. Although she could make a statement in the next couple days regarding them opening after Easter weekend.
I don't see them opening courses anytime soon, so I am not getting my hopes up. Michigan is 3rd nationally in number of cases - they will continue to be hardcore in management.
I don't think golf has anything to do with that. I know there is a vote coming up and there's pressure from a number of people to open courses in exchange for voting yes.
Over 12,000 people have signed the petition so far.
claims to have government sources and puts odds at 50/50. I guess we find out tomorrow
My golf today...rode my bike to the local park and hit wedge shots from 70/80/90 yards to the post in the background. Used laser rangefinder like a true nerd lol.
Are you trying backwards golf during the quarantine? Crazy lefties 😁. I sometimes play with 3, being a righty minority on the course sucks!
Ha! My usual foursome has three lefties!
