Ash1974 WITB - Update 2018...

Update for 2018.....

My handicap has climbed from 16.2-19.6 (playing off 20) last two years, I have got so messed up with trying to improve, hit positions all while worrying every HC qualifying round about my climbing HC.... as a result I got a set of G400s for so off days (I know it is the Indian and not the arrows) but these cluns have given more confidence and after seeing the way GG SwingTips teaches and just concentrating on strike and results as apposed to what it looks like, coupled with getting my hands away from me at address and just letting go I have had a few good scores leading up to 37 & 40 points last two rounds. The only decent rounds I had last summer were team comps, won a trophy for a 4BBB and second in another 4BBB comp, which proved to me that I can play to 16 when there is no pressure, so looking forward to qualify rounds again.

Always enjoy playing newport, used to play it years ago in the Tucker trophy, always immaculate there.

Good gear you have there an all not a big tmade fan but those irons do look v nice

Cheers mate, yeah the Irons are sexy as hell, players irons never been a problem for me, could never play GI as they just look wrong with all the offfset, plus my issue is off the tee with the long clubs, pull hook or snap hook, so offset is not my friend lol

Only just joined Newport, was at Cletic Manor for 6 years but got fed up of not be able to get a round when I wanted and 5hr plus rounds when I did! I live under 5 mins from Newport so a no brainer for me.

Great looking bag of gear. I know the demands of children. I have three daughters. We live across the street from our golf course and, when the kids were very young, the primary use of the cart was to take the kids on late afternoon rides on the course. While those were among the best times of my life, they did not help my game.

Awesome! I especially like the TM CBs.

Nice bag. Those Tour preferred CP are unreal with the disatnce from the CB tried them on the simulator. 200 yard 7i. Unreal lol, i couldnt play em by the MCs i could do! heck of a bag though. check mines out let me know what you think

Nice set-up, hope you enjoy it. As an aside, really do not understand the need by some to comment on what clubs another should play based upon handicap stated when they do not know that person and their game. Enjoy the game!

Yeah they are stupid easy to hit and more forgiving than the RBladez Tour, stronger lofts as well which would explain the distance, although they play pretty much the same as my i20s did other than the 4-6 are longer.
I think TM hit a homerun with these they look good, have that players profile (with some offset in the long irons) but play miles easier than they look for a TP iron, just as easy to hit as the i20s I had before.

Your bag looks good man, l love the White SLDR and the Mizuno MPs are the best looking blade on the market IMHO.

Yep I agree, but don't let it bother me, I know my iron game is solid enough for these CBs and I will have just as much as an off day with them as I would with MP69s or G25s.

Amen to that brother. Kids do get in the way thats for sure. My handicap is on a steady upward curve.

Bag updatded, New woods, wedge and putter

OMG, I cant stop

I have already ditched the Jetspeed hybrid as it was a spray machine for me (shaft I guess)
I picked up a brand new SLDR 19 and this fits me much better, so far....

OK so I have been making a swing change that whilst it seems minor is taking a while, shorter backswing and flat left wrist at the top.
It has taken me a few weeks to actually hit the ball half tidy, I have been in no mans land hitting the ball all over the place, left, right, fat, thin, hooks, blocks and the dreaded hosel rocket....
Been struggling to break 100 but after some hard practice I shot 93/net 76 in a Medal on sat, whilst this is not a cut, I am seeing it as a great round as I made 5s on every par 3! so the par4/5 other holes were all decent for my HC with a few pars and birdy puts just slipping by.
The one thing that used to be solid was my Iron play on par 3s, but for some reason teeing the ball up with an iron made me hit it left into big trouble, off the deck they were fine, so need to work that out.
The main difference with this swing has been my driving, the Jetspeed even with the 45" shaft just felt like a fishing rod, I could not feel the top of backswing and as a result was replaced for this medal with my old 44.5" Amp Cell, driving was a 100 times better.
So the AMP cell is back in the bag and the swing change work continues….

Your bag looks great, and good luck with the changes. I have been trying to make some swing changes myself. Combine that with weather, kids, and work it is not adding up to good golf. I have my first tournament in about a week and a half. We will see how it goes. Good luck for the 2015 season! Cheers

Its great, I have always played a 58 or 60 as my 3rd wedge (in PW/GW/LW) but now I play PW 46 - GW 51 - SW 56 all at 35.5"

I find the 56 so much better for the varying sand and amounts of sand on courses her in the UK.

New Driver in the Bag, Aeroburner stock 9.5 but with a GPMC Midsize fitted, liking it so far

Ok so fuel'd by the "V-Steel Band of Brothers" thread I picked up a beat up old V-Steel 5 wood.
Re gripped it with a GPMC Midsize, sanded of the head (was sky marked to death) masked it off and painted it satin white (finishing is not 100% as it was a spray can, but will do for first attempt)
Pretty happy with results.
On the course it has a low piercing draw flight, easiest FW I ever hit, period. Everyone in my group Saturday asked "what was that you just hit" as I had the SLDR headcover on stealth style.
So it's in the bag in place of the SLDR.

Yes there were, yep I played it the day before The Tucker and the greens were in real good shape, bit of rain has done it good

Update August 2016

New Pics in 1st Post

Small changes to this bag, always struggled in the 1 gap I play between Driver and 4i I have tried many hybrids ranging from 18-20 deg, plus 3/4/5 woods but I just cant seem to hit them consistently enough, one shot will be great the rest real bad, I am talking tops, back of hozel, half toes, the lot!

So I have just picked up a RSi2 3 Iron as I have no problem hitting my 4i, but it will give me an option over 200yards other than driver.

I also had a SamLab putter fitting earlier this year and came out with the Scotty Squareback, I have added a SuperStroke mid slim 2.0 and painted the site line black, I am loving this putter!

My HC has also been creeping up (17.4) due to only playing twice a month (always in HC qualifying comps) with no practice, but I recently watched a video on Dynamic balance in the setup and have seen a big turnaround in last two rounds sticking to a setup routine from Tracy @ Golf Swing Control, time will tell on that though :)

Quite a few changes.....

New Irons - 2014 TM CB changed to 2016 M2 Tour

New Driver - AB 9.5 changed to M2 10.5

Changed to Waterproof TM bag (UK)

Possible change to my 58 wedge, looking at Callaway MC3 and Vokey SM6

Looking forward to some warm weather golf at the end of March in Portugal :)
