Not right now, the non-res rate is pretty steep normally and the way the conditions are now. There is no way it's worth it.

It depends on your budget. It's not close to Coronado but Maderas Golf Club is highly recommended. Coronado Golf Course is a decent muni course close by.

I just played the North course at Torrey on Thursday. The greens are in good shape but the rest of the course is spotty at best. I agree with what has been said in that you have to play it if you haven't but I don't think I would play the North again. I think once you have played both of the courses there are probably better places to play. I play mostly all private golf so my expectations may be high but what I saw at the North was not very impressive as far as conditions. The layout was better than I expected. Of course the location is top notch. In the end I would say that it is over priced for what you get but again I paid it didn't I?

If your willing To drive 45 minutes or so, I would recommend a trip to temecula and try and play journey at pachanga and cross creek. Two of the nicer courses in the area right now. Most of the courses are coming out of maintanance right now.

North of pendleton is a pretty big area if you could narrow it down I could recommend a couple.

Arrowwood actually borders your Camp. Had a good time and it's a solid track. Not sure about price but I played it for $50 and thought it was worth it.

Golf Club of California (is it now called Fallbrook???) was excellent and a very good value.

Just skip golf and go to every brewery that you can

Maybe the best piece of advice I've read on here in a very long time. Bravo! Well played Sir!

I recommend *not* playing the Crossings at Carlsbad unless you get one of their end of the day rates. I paid $35 with the cart and that might have been a little overpriced. Conditions were good but every single hole had a severe elevation change and/or blind shot - sometimes both.

Journey is probably in really good shape right about now.
They re-opened at the beginning of the month from overseeding, and I think they do 2 solid weeks of cart path only after that. You should be good to go right now.
It's definately worth the green fee, but it the course can be a little brutal on you.

Hahah I'm actually playing in the city championship there this weekend...played there last weekend for a practice round...definitely in no way walkable... I've heard that you either love it or hate it...

Haha, oh yeah there is no chance it is walkable, has to be at least two half mile or so drives between green/tee.

You should check out Salt Creek and Steel Canyon which should be around 15-20mins away from you. I really enjoy playing both those courses. If you want a challenge, you can also check out Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club.

We are the closest golf shop near coronado so stop by if you can and say hello.

Enjoy your trip!

Journey and Cross Creek are excellent suggestions but at least 1 hour from downtown.

Arrowrood in Oceanside is very close to Pendelton and an excellent public tract. Also Talega is up the road in San Clemente As mentioned Maderas is excellent. Enjoy your time here

Aviara is great, but it hasn't been in good condition for a few months. The fairways are pretty good and the greens are generally good (although there are some spots around the edges that are repaired), but the rough has been very poor lately, especially around the greens. It is very splotchy with patches and tufts of grass among a lot of bare spots, which are often muddy because of the overwatering. It's pretty frustrating when you miss a green by a few yards and have such really bad conditions to deal with, but if you never miss a fairway or green you won't mind much. They're working on it but I'd give them a month or more before paying their very high and almost never discounted rate.
