Progressive lie angles

does anyone here play with progressive lie angles throughout the set? I'm thinking of having...

1* upright for 3-6 irons

std. for 7-9 irons

1* flat for PW-SW

2* flat for LW.

Although I have consistant lie set up in my irons, somebady please correct me if I'm wrong.

Shouldn't it be the other way around, assuming the swing plan stays the same for every club, the longer the club the flater the lie angle?

I couldn,t imaging hitting longer irons with more upright angle, it'll be all left side on the track for me.

long irons are easier to hit to the left (for a lefty). a flat(-ter) lie would only make it easier to cut/fade/slice.

Yes, I'm thinking in term of the proper lie angle for contact, if setting upright works for you, that's great.

The reason lie angle need to be progressive is because:

The shorter the set up of the club the stiffer the shaft will be ( higher freq ), thus the longer iron which is softer flex will bow more during load on the down swing through impact possition. Because of that dynamic nature, you have to compensate by having the lie progessively more up right on the longer iron to be able to catch the ground equally square w/ the rest of the irons.

IMO most of OEM now a days are way to up right on the longer iron, the reason they've set it up that up right is to accomodate/fix most average player's problem, " SLICE or FADE" on the longer irons. Most of good striker can tell that the heel will catch the ground first at impact when the club is way to up right.

Yes and No! depends how far they are off the track. IMO the worst and most common are trajectory and lie angle. Loft numbers means nothing if you can't launch it at the right trajectory and catch it w/ the right lie angle for a square hit.

I'm back in Seattle now, but was in the Bay Area for my grad school long time ago, in fact I was living in Daly City up on a hill that foged up most of the morning.
