Will Simulator Golf Become More Popular In The Future??

Just something that popped into my mind while reading another thread. With the costs to maintain golf courses going up all the time, along with greens fees, Do you thing that Sim Golf with start to increase in popularity and not just for winter golf?? Simulators have come a LONG way from what they were just a few years ago even, the one I play in the winter is pretty high tech for example, and one can play over 150 full size courses for $20 a pop, right in the city only minutes away, with no walking needed and a decent bar/food on hand. You can even track your rounds with an online profile for free, and this is just one example. I'm sure there are even better ones out there, heck someday it may be affordable enough to have your own simulator at home in your garage??

So with simulators getting better all the time and green fees going up all the time, do you think simulator golf be the way of the future for a lot of us?? What do you think??

Maybe a tiny bit....i see your point. I mean you can play virtual golf in an hour

But anyone who likes golf prefers real golf to virtual golf. And it can never overcome that. Any real golfer would rather go out and play 9 on a real course then 18 on a fake course

CMT forum is the WRX-mod gulag...

There is one mod out there who arbitrarily dumps threads in here. Still trying to find out which one it is, but I figure it is someone higher up the food chain, because most of the other mods are visible in the forums.

Makes sense, but sim golf can be open until 12/1 am(the one I play is open until till 1am) where a golf course closes with the sun. But i totally get you, nothing beats actual outdoor golf. But I can see sim golf becoming more popular even if only in the more urban areas where courses are fewer and farther in between. The guy who only has time to get out of the city for a round or two a month to his course 30/45min away could easily slip in 3/4 sim round in between outdoor rounds right in the city.

I didn't even know this part of the forum existed.

I figure I'd follow you three into WRX purgatory. I'm adding the 'CMT' to my WRX lexicon.

I've voiced my displeasure with the short game aspect of simulated golf. There are times when I feel so confined in a simulator and I find it difficult to 'escape' between shots. It's one thing to struggle with a case of the shanks on an open course, it's quite another to shank 7 shots in a row in a simulator. Downright dangerous.

I would also add that the tendency to mix booze, technology, and blade irons together could prove to be a costly venture.

I know that you are a legit 'bomber', but I'm a light weight by WRX standards. The screen barely billows upon impact. The only thing Sadlowski and I have in common . . . we are Canadian. I wonder if he could down a nacho platter and 2 lbs of wings during a round of simulated golf. His slender frame would suggest otherwise.

I'm too broke to do any membershiping or traveling, but ii would defenitley appreciate easier access to golf simulators.
