Come on JS...way too transparent.
I've heard several references to JS, he must have been quite the legend and known to be one hell of a golfer....
And the kind of guy who would say that he must have been quite the legend and known to be a helluva golfer...in his mind.

Lol, no doubt. But as it stands now he is legend.

Back to my question, has anyone done any traveling?

Why are we leaving the US again for this? The US is the cheapest in the world for practically everything...including golf. This must be a troll...

...Huh?
I didn't stutter. I travel the world for work and practically everything is cheaper in the US than anywhere else in the world....clothes, food, golf, essentially everything.

That's not true. As this map shows America, Canada, Australia, and West Europe tend to have the highest costs of living.... http://www.numbeo.co...iving/gmaps.jsp

Utter rubbish, quick example being that annual subs at Sunningdale GC are in the region of GBP 3k (USD 4700). What private club within an hour of a major US city that has two courses in the worlds top 100 is anywhere near that price level?

Ummm....Myrtle Beach SC gives you 100 courses of your choosing for less than that and year round playability. So, I say utter rubbish in return to you.

And to the person that started the thread and then railed about the cost of living. You specifically mentioned golf cities and then cite just the cheapest places in the world to love. Sure, go love in Africa, Nepal or Siberia. You asked for the best places to play golf and I asked you why you were leaving here as it is the cheapest in the world.

OK, this is getting off topic but you're talking about subjects you obviously know nothing about. Africa is freaking huge and has 54 countries, so perhaps you could be more specific and take a look at this while you're at it http://www.cnn.com/2...courses-africa/ . No fair minded person would say that the U.S. is generally cheaper than most countries, except for it's fast food... I try not to get into debates with people who are "American and proud" because it often spirals into me having to hear the most asinine, ridiculous, and delusional comments that I've ever heard in my life.

Barefoot Legends or whatever resort course in Myrtle Beach is nowhere near the quality of Sunningdale and nor is it within an hour of a world city like London. A proper comparison would be whatever a full ride at Merion, Winged Foot or Medinah is.

Going outside London full memberships at decent places near Edinburgh will be under or around 1k USD.

Agree JS. You should go to Somalia and work on your game. Cheap cost of living there, dying too.

Hey, I love London. One of my favorite cities in the entire world and will be there in a couple of weeks to enjoy the many tremendous restaurants the city has to offer. But, am I the only one that read the question? A place to go away over the next few months to hone your skills. You laid out some of the worst weather in the world on one golf course. I offered a place you can play all year round and you can play 100 golf courses. Are they the same level? No. But they offer virtually every type of course architecture you would want outside of true links. And, it's cheap. So, I stand by my statement.

As someone who has been to Africa several times (mostly South Africa) and flies 150,000 miles a year and has been to every continent except for Antarctica, I'll be happy to take up this debate with you. Here we go:

1) Golf is cheaper in the US than South Africa. Cost me $700 for the 3 courses I played the last time I was there. The courses were nice, but your article failed to mention that 90% of the courses there wouldn't qualify as muni worthy here. Each country tends to have 1 nice course (outside of South Africa which has several) and then a bunch of terrible courses.
2) The US provides the cheapest place in the world to live with amenities. Sure, you can go live in the Phillipines, Cambodia, Belize or somewhere like that and enjoy having very little in your life.

Your anti-US sentiment is glaring. I don't see a lot of people trying to immigrate to any of those countries. I love a lot of countries in Europe but they are severely landlocked, don't offer a lot in land and are still antiquated on a lot of things. Sorry to disappoint you.

Chili it's JonesScott. He's the guy who shot 72 on a 6,000 yard course, wanted to Monday qualify, said Augusta was too easy, has never played in a tournament, thinks he can dominate on tour, has stated that he was a 2.1 index, then changed it to +21, then got called on that and removed it, etc.

He's been banned but comes back.

You can't take anything serious.
