New Snake Eyes Python XL Driver - Design Opinions?

I just got mine yesterday and shafted it up with a V2 shaft. I am going to play it tomorrow and will let you know what I think tomorrow night. It is a great looking clubhead. I posted a topic on this 3 weeks ago or so. Here is the link:

I appreciate your honesty and I've got to say, you have a very cool job. From the pics, I like the look, it reminds me of the Python Power-Link. I'm just glad to see that Golfsmith is getting away from the Viper TI series, I hated the look of that club (too much flat grey). IMHO, it seemed that the designs took a step down after the 653 series. What I'd love to see a return of is the Blackbox series. The last Jetstreams had a great finish and I figured with the Superquad and Hibore XL, Golfsmith would bring back the "black" look. I'll reserve my final opinion until I see the Python XL in person, for now, good job, I'd hit it.

I'm not sure how I missed that post back then. I'm glad to see someone pick up on this club. It's a great performer.

Ahh, I had only seen pics of it from the bottom - which weren't bad, but I like the looks from the top even more. Very nice and now I can see how the paint job flows between the top and bottom. Shoft looks great too.

Does the XL mean extra large? Typically I don't like XL anything in my clubs.

As you can tell, I'm a big fan of Golfsmith and have been building my own clubs since I discovered you guys in 2000. I only just got rid of my Golfsmith Tour Cavity irons.

This is a sweet driver. It sounds super solid, feels great and I hit it great as well. It has a nice mid high trajectory and it goes straight.

This will definately be a great selling driver for Golfsmith. Even though it does look alittle like the burner it is still a very good looking clubhead. I think it looks better than the Burner IMO.

To be brutally honest, the last 2 years have been rough ones for GS with regard to graphic design. I have no idea how any of them passed the eval stage without someone raising an alarm. They've seemed to turn it around this year. Clubs are like jewelry - class and sophistication go a long way so I think it's a fine balance between that and showing off the technology.

The XL looks good......perhaps alittle racy for my taste but that's just personal opinion. The green (pretty nice shade) is ok on the sole but once you put it on the crown, then it may clash with shaft colors which tend to be pretty flashy nowadays. My own preference is a black or neutral color crown, no alignment mark with whatever you want to do on the sole. There's only so much you can do on the sole with paint/sand blast so it needs contouring which may or may not complement design features. The sole is the money shot. The crown needs to blend in with whatever the clubmaker wants to do with shaft. I rarely use NV and never use the house branded shaft.
