It just me or are a lot of pros switching to Nippon Iron Shafts?

Seems like a lot of pros have been switching to them in the last year. Guys that played PX and DG. Anyone have any info on why certain players switched?

Seems tough to get a handle on which ones they're switching to as well. There's a lot of Modus but I keep seeing prototypes as well. Are those an offering or actually slightly different prototypes for each player?

Still play the Nippon Super Peening Blue X. Great shafts.

Seems like I have been seeing that red shaft label more often, but can't say for sure.

Which Modus shaft are they playing? There are 3 now, right? 120, 125, and 130?

Not sure. I see that in charley hoffmans witb from this weekend he's playing a Modus pro prototype. What would that be?

The pros are behind wrx when it comes to recognizing Nippon shafts.

What's So good about Nippon?

There is a prototype 110 shaft right now. Will more than likely be released at pga show. Just started playing the 120's early this year. Fantastic shafts for sure

I noticed this too of late. They are great shafts. Used to use the 950s. Great shafts! On the LPGA, I would bet they are the #1 shaft?!

I was thinking about going with some 1150's in my H4's. The DG S300 is a bit low launching.

I was looking at putting 120 modus in some irons...but it's so frustrating sifting through the opinions on flex on this forum...

Would love to try the Modus 130s in my irons. There's a nice long thread somewhere on here with opinions on the various flexes and weights.

I'd also love to try the SPB but they are a little tough to find in X it seems.

Thru some feedback from a friend...ordered Modus Tour 3 120's TX flex and they will be here shortly to go into my Apex/Apex Pro set up!! Can't wait...can get them installed and get used to them while it SNOWS!!!

I'm seriously considering them in my next set. I had never felt a Nippon shaft until the Covert Forged 2.0's and they are smooooooth. I had my pro order Modus 120 Stiff for my 6 iron and it had roughly the same ball flight as my PX 6.0's and offered the same or maybe better performance with way, way better feel. Dispersion was tight based off just my naked eye.

I am told that all things equal, dispersion is on par with my ctapers, so it spin, but the shaft is smoother! I thought the Ctapers(S+ 125's SS 1x), were about as smooth as smooth gets...but I am told my bud will never go back to ctapers after these...soooooo...have to try them.

Great news for me! I'm looking for the PX ball flight with better feel. I tried PXI but they just went higher.

I switched from PX too, tried PXI but didn't like it either.

i'm going from PX 6.5 to modus 120 x based on my fitting...more piercing ball flight (still mid-high apex) with just enough spin and epic dispersion. feel really, REALLY good too.

You can see by a lot of the posts in here the feeling is one of the best out there for steel shafts. They have by far the tightest tolerances in the business, so that's part of it. Word I heard was the owner of the company (who produces steel products in Japan) got hooked on golf, but knew he could make a better steel shaft than what he had been using. So he did.

My favorite iron shaft were TT Monacos, but this summer I had the 130s put into a set of Epons and they are really amazing. I've never hit my irons — especially long irons — so straight. Great feel too, very smooth. Confidence inspiring for me.

My understanding is they have a slight counterbalance to them... at least that's what my fitter told me. Also was told the flex profile fit my swing. Tired a NS Pro in a Bettinardi BB8 head and fell in love with that too.

If you can try a club with one, I highly recommend hitting it.

I've been playing KBS in my wedges and I'm thinking trying the NS Pro Wedge and also the Shimada Tour Wedge with the green label...

Damn. The secret is out. Been playing these for years.

All other club factors being the same (length, loft, lie, club head etc.), I was a club longer with the Nippon 130X compared with any other shaft.

You can't go wrong with Nippon. I have nothing but high raves for these.

Great shafts. Smooth as butter. I tried all the shafts especially the PX's but the Nippons provided the best feel. U can't go wrong with these.

Why don't we ever see the Super Peening shafts available for upgrade?
