3 Day Trip To Phoenix Area

Recommended Posts

Looking to plan a trip with my father & brother for March or April. Fly in on a Friday morning and leave late Sunday. I've never been and am looking for the best place to stay and play. Would really prefer a nice hotel with possibly multiple courses on site. Then willing to drive a short distance to work in something additional. Looking for green fees of less than $200, but if something is really worth it let me know!

Thanks in advance for the thoughts!

My apologies for not being more diligent about the search function! Although I do love the dead horse emoji.

We-Ko-Pa looks like the perfect answer.

Ideal is to get 4 rounds in, so might replay or add something else of site. Thanks for the nudge and appreciate the responses not getting too out of hand, sorry to be "that guy".

Another option not mentioned is the JW Marriott Desert Ridge - has Wildfire Golf club on site - a Palmer and a Faldo course. Close to Desert Ridge marketplace with lots of restaurant choices plus close to Scottsdale Road. Beautiful lazy river pool.

To save you some search time (although you might enjoy it), my favorites after being in Phoenix 6 months are We-ko-pa Saguaro (We-ko-pa Cholla is good, just not as good), Ak-Chin Southern Dunes (a long drive south but the Golfwrx consensus best course in Phoenix), Tegavah (about a 20 minute drive from We-ko-pa, best value course), and Camelback Ambiente (resort course about 15 minute drive into central Scottsdale from We-ko-pa).

As mentioned in another post, the JW Marriott Desert Ridge is a fantastic resort, it's just that the 2 courses attached don't crack the top 10 list for most of us here (although the Faldo course is quite good, the Palmer course not so much).

Again, thanks for all of the responses and info!

I've definitely settled on We Ko Pa. Will be staying two nights and plan to play Suguaro twice, Cholla and then add in one other off site. Suguaro just sounds exactly like the kind of course I like to play and seems like it's really worth two looks!

I see the 36-hole package, but any advice on how to get best room rates and golf combined? Go straight through resort or discount site for rooms?

Thanks!

If you have any country club connections and can pull some strings there are a bunch worthwhile (whisper Rock, estancia, desert highlands, Scottsdale national, silverleaf). I like wekopa, Grayhawk raptor, TPP stadium, boulders and Troon. There are a lot to choose from but those are probably the best. I heard southern dunes too (used to be a private club) but is about 45-60 min drive. There are many hotels and resorts near the 101 and Scottsdale rd and all the courses I mentioned are within 15-20 min drive com there.

I am about 1 month out from my first trip to Scottsdale. I am scheduled to play Grayhawk - Raptor, Eagle Mountain, TPC Scottsdale - Champions course and Phoenician courses. I hope I made good picks!

2 out of 4 are great (Grayhawk and Eagle Mtn.).
