Scotty Cameron Golo PVD removal and customisation project

Last week I had a junior member from my club hand me his somewhat battered Golo and he asked if anything could be done?

After taking the whole thing apart and tipping water out from behind the weights and the sole plate work commenced.

I started by bead blasting the head to remove the PVD. I decided not to mask the bombs as I didn't want to keep the polished ring.

The head was then buffed and sanded to remove any dings ready for the final bead blasted finish and polished sole. I also decided to polish the weights and buff any marks from the aluminium sole plate.

I gave the putter back and he was gobsmacked. He's been showing it off around the club over the weekend. It's nice to be able to support our junior members at Ashton & Lea golf club (Preston)

Finchi that is amazing!! I may lean on you as I have a client sending me a SC 2014 sq back and wants some work done that I told him I've never done b4.
He has complete faith that I can what he's wanting done:)

Did you have any trouble getting the paint to stick smoothly on the aluminum part of the putter? I've been messing with Squareback Select but have not been happy with the way the paint has gone on.

No worries just get in touch if you need any advice. I presume it's the one with the red sole plate? I've seen people strip the red on here somewhere, it's only anodised so caustic soda should strip it. I'd check that out first as it's a long time since I did any chemistry!!

It was a little difficult to be honest, the paint didn't spread the same as it does on steel. I made sure it was totally clean as we'll.

The last Golo I painted, I used a needle to drop a little acetone in the areas to be painted and then applied the paint (with a needle too). I didn't pre-mix and it worked well.

What grit of bead blast did you use?

And what PSI? Roughly, as this was 4 years ago. I just found this thread now. I just got a used Notchback with the Black PVD finish. It is in pretty rough shape, like this Golo was and want to give it some new life!

Glad you brought this one back...the Golo in the OP looks sick! I hadn't seen this thread before!

I use glass bead at 80-90 psi 200-300 micron
