How do you line up your golf ball?

titleist fan 1

Recommended Posts

Really simple, saw titleist do this in 2012 and thought you know what why not put it on here.

All you need to put is how you line your ball up off the tee and on the green even better put in pics.

I very simply use a line on the green over the Pro V1x arrow and then use the titleist script off the tee ill post a pic later

Here's the link for the titleist version -

I line my ball up so I see nothing but white dimples. I don't use the line for putting anymore. Takes too much time to get it right. I never lined it up off the tee. I'm Glad no one I play golf with does that!

When I putt I don't want to see anything but white dimples, tried lining up with line and never would trust it.
Messed with my head.

Good question, very interested in answers. My problem putting is getting lined up correctly. Just started using the line on the ball, does take a little longer, but something gotta help. It does mess with your head too, when have what you think is lined up just right, then step up to ball, set up the putter and it looks like its all wrong....what do you do?? Gotta trust the line and hit it, at least that's what I'm trying now.

Never line up on tee box. I go back and fourth from lining up putts. It does take some time to line up the putts correctly. On days where my practice session before a round are good lines and roll I do to bother lining up putts . Sometimes I feel when the ball is lined up I focus too much on making the putter line up with the ball causing me to push / pull or duff a putt. Idk man I'm a mess.

Ya there GI irons ... but I keep em clean .

Also tried to utilize the line and didn't trust it at all. I like to see all white teeing it up and putting.

I'm too OCD to try to line things up. I used to try to see all dimples too, but eventually I just forced myself to play all of my shots a little quicker and not worry about it.

I use the line on most all putts inside 20 ft. I don't think it takes any more time that not using it as I seen to fidget over the ball when not using it. But when I do it's just get over it and go. But that's just me. On looking puts I see the path better for some reason than I do short ones with no line.

Never on tee box.

I was always taught not to use the ball but to pick out something right infront of it. At least in terms of putting the idea was to do that to make sure your putter stroke followed straight through the ball and the ball crossed that spot so you know it was on-line. If you use the ball itself, I don't see how it's much different than just using the sight line on your putter.

but everyone is different, this works for me

On tee shots, I always have the number of the ball at the bottom left, which is a reminder of where I want to attack. I can get flippy and use the reminder to extend and hit to right center field.

On putts I use the line aiming at a spot about 4" in front of the ball where I want to start it. I mark my ball dead center of the line and that's my focus over top of the ball.

I roughly line up the name of the ball on tee shots as it helps me focus as to where the ball is more. I also use the name on the ball for a line on putts as well, but am more careful to get it on the line of the putt.

See avatar.

The ball is lined up on the tee in the direction of the intended flight from behind. How many times have you seen other golfers adjust their stance after addressing the ball? They also rarely are looking directly down the flight line.

This actually saves time for me and allows for only thinking about the ball strike rather than the direction. The logo on the ball is the target for the clubface.

It is the same on the green. Once lined up, the only remaining issue is speed. That keeps the stroke less complicated and improves focus. I'd rather the second putt, if necessary, be from 6" because of correct speed rather than four feet short or long.

As can be deduced from the variety of posts, this issue is a personal preference issue. It it works... it is right.

I roughly line up the logo perpendicular to the line of the putt or tee shot. I found this suits my eye better than the logo pointed at the target. I think I read that this is actually the theory behind the Versa putters. If I remember correctly, many people actually will align the face better with perpendicular markings as opposed to markings that point toward the target/hole. I've found it to be true for me.

I sit it on the tee or the putting surface. I don't care about how it looks other than marking it with an orange sharpie so I know it's my ball.

Ben Curtis was the first PGA Tour golfer I ever saw do this. I tried it and it certainly calms my nerves knowing I don't have to hit it directly where that skinny line is pointed. All I have to do is get the putter face parallel with the brand name. It feels easier to me.

I line up my putts, it only takes a second to put the line on your intended target line. I also use it to make sure i rolled it smoothly. Teeing off i dont use the line but will make it with Label upward.

I personally only line it up on the green. I started doing this in the middle of the 2013 season when I was having some alignment problems on the green and it has just stuck. Over time, I have really come to trust my line with it and all is going well. Now off the tee is another story, I have never tried it but I may have to see how it goes.

On the tee, seam facing target to maximise distance.

Where is the study that I can read more about this? Has to be good for an addition 2 feet.

Off the tee I'm a spot in front of the ball kind of person for alignment. I mark my ball with a blacked out number and one dot in the white section of the ball. When I putt I just look at the one dot and pick a spot on my intended line. I used to be one of those sharpie line guys but it made me slower and slower and I always second guessed where the line was aimed so I went back to spot putting and have stuck with that for that last 3 years.

Off the tee I'll put the logo up so I'll have something to look at. I used to have an issue of lifting my head and topping the ball, I started doing this and it fixed the problem.

On the green I just put the ball on the ground. I've tried lining the ball up and it never works. I never think I have it lined up perfect, so I'm second guessing my alignment at address. It's also difficult to line up two 1" lines. Instead I draw an invisible line from what I'm aiming at to the ball and square the putter/my body up to that.
