which is best
Hey guys, what's up,I'm new to this forum. Im a senior in HS and the fall season just ended, but i want to continue playing as much as i can through out the winter/spring/summer, even though i porbably wont play in college. My putting is what let me down, and alot of my 40-42's could have been 36's-38's. Over the winter what is the best training aids to use in my living room?? any help appreciated

I think the PUTTING ARC is one of the best training devices on the market. Its a really great training aide for 10 foot putts and in. If you can make most of your 10 foot putts your score will improve.

Yes have one which is amazing. I'm not sure what it's called but it's a putter rail designed to groove a perfect path. Very good.

Another good drill which i use is putting 2 tees in the green one on each side of the putter head at a very small distance away from the head on either side..... it helps engrain path and returning the clubface to where it started... Tiger uses this drill too.

I use that drill also.

Also another good one is too out 4 tees in a line one 3 feet one 6 feet one 9 feet and one 12 feet and you have to make three puts in a row from each tee to advance to the next .

I would say that the combination of Dave Pelz's Putting Bible, the putting track (it's ****ing expensive, but there are cheaper similar items around) and the putting clips.

the clips really get you hitting the middle of the putter. Don't go too far up on the scale at first though. There are three, being something like beginner, advanced and professional. They get narrower each one and therefore harder. Would be depressing to jump straight into the pro one.

Good luck.

This is what I did when I was young and didn't have money to buy training aids....also before most of those noted in the above post were ever invented.

-Get yourself two 2 x 4''s and practice your stroke between them.

-Find yourself a wall and take your putting stance. Touch the top of your hair to the wall...not your head...just the hair and follow the line of the wall with your stroke.

-two band aid's spaced a 1/2" away from each other on the putter face for use on the putting mat.

I have three I use daily.. I need all the help I can get :) :cheesy:

"Putting arc" for path the putter should take.

"Boomerang" for distance and lag putting in confinced spaces.

Harold swash's "the rail" [or whatever its called] for making sure I have a square face at impact.

All three have helped and wouldnt be without any of them.

Good luck!

By far the best tool you can use. This thing really works and is fairly inexpensive.

I think the Pelz Putting Tutor is the single best putting trainer out there today. The Putting Arc is in vogue online today, but what it won't do is help train you to get the clubface square to target at impact. You can traing with the PA and still hit the ball with an open or closed face and not even know it.

The Putting Tutor trains you to set up square, then give you immediate feedback on whether your putter face is square at impact. If you use the PT every day, you will develop bulletproof putting mechanics--and that's what a training aid is all about, isn't it?

When ever I try to practice short putts I mark off distances every six inches from 1 foot to 6 feet. I then set two tees up in front of the cup about 2 1/2 inches apart so that they block any putts that don't go in the center. I then make 10 consecutive putts from each distance and if I miss one I start back over from 1ft. Even though it's time consuming, it's a cheap alternative to buying a training aid. Get a stroke that consistently makes those putts, the longer putts get easier because you are confident enough with your putting that you know as long as you lag the ball close to the hole you can make the next putt.
