Foresight GC2 Launch Monitor vs. Trackman Pro

Recommended Posts

Was wondering if anyone has testing the Foresight GC2 vs. the Trackman Pro? I have hit off both units, but never at the same time. My distance seems to be the same with the GC2 and Trackman. Though I am not consistent so I can't tell if my offline amount(right vs. left) is an issue between the units.

Looking to see if anyone has hit off both of them at the same time and compared the numbers? The foresight unit is around $8000(including courses) and trackman Pro is around $18000(including courses). I am looking to setup something in my basement. Living in the midwest it hard to sit October-April. The nearest indoor simulator is around 60mins from where I live. Any help would be great.

if you contact the distributor I am certain they will arrange a demo test for you. The two are very different, Trackman is radar and includes club data, it also has an integrated camera for directional alignment. The GC2 is optical and only gives ball flight data unless you get the HMT unit which is the same again in cost terms. Accuracy size these are as good as it gets, If you are wanting to play golf courses, then you need to check out the course software prices on top. The GC2 is more indoor friendly, radar units need a longer minimum flight to provide the data, so check out if you have sufficient space.

If you just want to practice Flightscope have the Xi an entry priced radar unit for around $2500, If you want more data then the next model up is the Xi + $4500 I think. Skypro also have just released a camera based unit the Skytrak at around $2000.

It's a very complicated purchase choice, so make sure you do your homework before spending what will be a large sum of cash.

Hi, a bit late to this party, but I would like to see if others may have similar findings to mine. I am a former web.com and asian tour player, now running an indoor golf academy in Bangkok. We have both GC2 and Trackman Pro III and I noticed consistently different readings for shot shape (spin axis) between the two so I set them up together and still had the same very noticeable differences between them. The GC2 reads a consistent draw with my 7-iron (roughly +3 horizontal and -600 spin) while TM reads a push-leak (abt +1 path and +2 spin axis!) on the same shot....they feel like solid small draws to me, but I am at a loss as to how there could be such a big difference between the two. Testing in a fairly short bay, 9 feet from TM and 10 feet to screen. Interestingly, I have found that there is not much discrepancy between them with the driver though. All the other numbers are amazingly matched....launch angle, carry, clubhead speed (on driver) etc. My personal guess (but impossible to verify indoors) is that the GC2 has a draw bias and the TM has a fade bias indoors (with irons) and the truth is somewhere in between. I used to naturally hit a very consistent draw, but after 2 shoulder surgeries, my ball flight is just pretty straight now and I am assuming those are the shots I am hitting in there. I am reluctant to rely on the TM indoors for clubfitting or instruction until I can get this figured out. I would be very interested to hear the results from others that have tried this, or any ideas or suggestions as to why this might be. Thanks!

I don't think TM measures gear effect indoors, so if you're hitting slightly out of the toe this could have an effect. TM calc spin axis from path and FTP difference whereas GC2 measures it. Strange you're not seeing the same with the driver those these may be centre hits. Look at your strike location on the HMT fro confirmation

Were the path and FTP measurements the same between the 2? I'd be interested in seeing some of your comparisons if you have time to post

With Doppler units, measurement distance is at a premium for accurately measuring spin and spin axis. The longer the ability to read before the net, the better. When you are limited on room, you may often find better results with a camera-based unit. Nature of the beast, they both have their limitations.

Ryan, did you ever decide which unit to purchase?

These posts honestly could use a sub forum for launch monitor talk

I asked about this when I first started visiting GSF but I was told that it is meant for the club tech forum...

I agree though, this website could be a great spot to get people into sims as well.
