Las Vegas Question

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

I am making the move from Tucson to Las Vegas at the end of February and am looking for some help. I've been a member of a course here in Tucson that has the best deal going and has for years, it was about $2000 annually for unlimited golf and practice with no other fees ever. It has a nice short game area (not world class but usable) and the course was always fun and challenging.

I am looking for something similar in Vegas/Henderson and have seen Paiute and Rio Secco have the same type of memberships. What I am looking for is a better practice facility, I love working on my game for hours on end and would like to find a place where I can do that as well as play often.

If anyone has ideas on best practice facilities or other annual membership courses I would greatly appreciate the input.

Thanks in advance.

$500 for the PACC membership at Paiute is a pretty sweet deal. Includes a range pass and heavily discounted green fees at three of the best courses in the Valley. They have a lot of PACC member tournaments, a great pro shop and cool staff.
The practice facilities are pretty awesome with two driving ranges and a great short game area. Rio Secco can't touch it for practice facilities.
Downside is the 30min drive from the Strip. Paiute can get windy at certain times but it is also cooler than the central valley in the high summer.
In case you weren't aware, local residents get amazing deals at most Vegas courses, usually about 50% off rack, so, why limit yourself?

Hmm, I wish I have played more courses further down town to check out their facilities for you.

It really depends on where you live on what course you would choose. There are some 40+ courses in Vegas. If you are living down in Henderson, then you better buckle up for a 1 hour ride out to Paiute. Seems like a long drive to me. If you had a better idea of where you were going to live I would say start with a course close to home and check them out.

troublelove is correct in that local residents get better rates

+1 on what Troublelove said, I am a PACC member and IMHO there is no better membership option. My membership is $299 which gives me rounds in the $40-50 range at Sun and Snow Mountain and just $5 more to play Wolf. Best part is any guest whether local or tourist pays $10 above rack rate.

Then for just $249 additional, you can get unlimited range which no other course can sniff. The balls are excellent quality, all grass range, real sand bunkers, several putting greens that run usually at 10 on stimp. In the afternoon, the place is a ghost town and you have the place all to yourself so it feels like a country club without the high fees.

Twice a year, there are member only parties with free tapas, beer and wine plus there is a mens league, womens league and discounts at the golf shop. I've looked at private clubs here and was a member at Silverstone (when it was a decent club) and the PACC membership is far and away the best.

I was thinking Silverstone the whole time reading the OP. I LOVE the practice area at Silverstone. It really is nice. I am a OB sports member and my home course is The Legacy which offers a platinum membership that is pretty decent. Although, if you want unlimited range balls it's pretty hefty, imho, not worth it. You're better off just buying balls or getting to know the range tendants and tipping them for some balls like I do pretty much anytime I go, haha.

The practice area at Legacy isn't phenomenal but they have two putting greens and on one of the far side putting greens is a short game area that has different mogles and s*** you could setup to make sure you practice those odd shots you have on occasion. It also has a nice bunker to practice on.

Anyway, it really depends on what side of town you are going to live on Silverstone/Paiute are on the north end and The Legacy is more towards the south end, by Green Valley Ranch Station Casino.

Back when I was a member at Silverstone, the range used to be grass throughout then they ripped out the grass in the landing area to save costs and put the red crushed rock which has torn up their range balls. Ever since the recession, Silverstone has struggled with declining membership and awful conditions which is why I left and went to Paiute.

I like Legacy's range a lot, as well as Boulder Creek's.
