Best looking golf shoes of all time

Chilidog

Recommended Posts

Bored and was scanning my Instagram looking at all the latest offerings of golf shoes on the market and kind of got depressed. Working with a lot of these Brands I get to see a lot of the designs a year early and it is just perplexing to me how bad golf shoes are starting to look. So, it got me thinking what the best looking golf shoes of all time were based on 2 categories: Sport (what I would consider wearing with shorts) and Classic (what I would wear with pants). So, here are my 2 to be bantered about, dismissed, made fun of, etc:

SPORT

Adidas Adipure Nuovo White Colorway

CLASSIC

FJ Icon Shield tips in Black/White patent leather

Now let's have yours and discuss why mine is better. : )

For sport shoes I would go with Nike Lunar Control II and for classic shoes I would probably go with FJ Icon shield tips, although I can't pick a color combo. Also, I think that there are a lot more good options to pick from for classic shoes than there are for sport/athletic shoes.

Sport = Adidas Adipure. Not sure everyone would consider them sporty, but IMO they are. Simple design, clean lines, and nearly no logos (besides the 3 stripes around the arch).

Classic = Footjoy Shieldtips. No explanation needed.

I'd go with FootJoy Classics. Preferably the patent red, white, blues with Kilties worn by Johnny Miller at the '73 US Open.

For me these fit both categories, I still have both in the rotation and they are super comfortable. Wish they still made shoes like these but I did actually pick up a pair of 14's as they were too cheap to pass up and they are comfortable but they remind me of those shoes Jimmy wore on the Mel Torme episode of Seinfeld.

Here's a style that looks good with shorts or slacks. The FootJoy Icon Asymmetrical style. The white base options with colored prints look really good with shorts.

Teal-Icons.jpg

And while you can wear those with slacks as well, the colored base with coordinating or contrasting colored side panel, make for a very finished look with long pants.

But you can never go wrong with a pair of shield tips, that's for sure. :-)

For sport, I'd agree with those who say original Adipures, and also throw original and 2nd year FJ Sports in there (didn't like the last year's styling, though).

For classic, I love the shield tips. A little too dressy for me with polyester golf pants, but I love the styling.

Most any Footjoy Classics from the 1970s or 80s. Icons look cheap by comparison with that horrific non-leather sole.

Sports: the original Nike sports model from the mid 2000s (SM 4, 10, something lime that....white with the black swoosh) whose popularity is credited as an early prompter of the movement ore toward sports models. And, the original Nike Lunar Control would be the runner up.

Best classic looking shoe, will always be the FJ Classic. Wish I had bought more when they discontinued them, even the shape of the shoe was brilliant. Never felt quite right in anything since they discontinued them. Hoping that the Icon Black might come quite close to matching them in terms of looks...and maybe beating them when it comes to comfort.

Best sporty looking shoe for me has to be something by Adidas. Hard to pick a specific model simply because there seems to have been so many.

All the super high-end stuff, and the old FJ classics, are always going to have a look of their own. In my eyes, they really are the best looking golf shoes... but the choices are endless.

When it comes to a "semi-affordable for most" regular release golf shoe, there are 2 that come to mind for me. I really wish that they would re-release these (probably never going to happen, though).
