Headed to Memphis and looking for a cheap/nice course to play!

Long story short: I'm headed to Memphis for a couple days (Sunday-Wednesday). Seeing as I can't really golf right now in Michigan I'm looking to just get out on a course. We will be staying downtown, but I'm willing to drive up to a half hour away. I don't need a super nice course as my swing is very rusty, and as long as I'm golfing I'm happy! So if anyone is from the area or has visited and has any good "budget" courses around here I would love to hear some input!

Play Mirimichi after 1 for $40. It's absolutely my favorite course I've ever played thus far.

Thank you both for the replies. I looked into Mirimichi and it definitely looks awesome! Is booking a tee time a must even at this time of year?

Mirimichi is good. Also might want to consider Colonial CC. It's private but is on boxgroove. Hosted the PGA event in Memphis before it moved to Southwind.

If you can get on Colonial South, do it. That's the course that Al Geiberger shot 59 on. Every time I play there and know that Geiberger shot 59 there with persimmon woods, blade irons, and a golf ball that probably wasn't even round just blows my mind. It's a very stout golf course.

I am a member at Colonial and would agree that the South course is great and very challenging. Unfortunately, we close the South course from January till Mid March for upkeep and maintenance. The North course is open and still a good test of golf. Let me know if you want to get on and I can call the pro for you.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, I didn't see this until right now. I will definitely have to keep this in mind. My soon to be brother-in-law goes to school in Memphis, and I had such a great time that I'm sure I'll be visiting again.

I played 9 at the links at Audobon (city-run?) Monday, with the intentions of heading to Mirimichi on Tuesday. Unfortunately there was some bad weather on Tuesday that stopped me from heading out. Audobon wasn't anything special, but it was right by the zoo where the rest of my group was at. The course was extremely cheap to play, in pretty good shape, and the staff was welcoming. I would definitely look at going other places that are more challenging and scenic for my next trip. However, being from Michigan it was nice just to be able to be out on the golf course at all at this time of year!

I will have to plan ahead better next time, but Colonial and Mirimichi sound like the two I would like to head to next. Memphis was definitely a very cool place and I can't wait to go back!
