Best golf shorts/pants?

Recommended Posts

I've beed struggling to find comfortable shorts and pants to play in. I tried out the Lulu lemon ABC shorts and pants, they are the best feeling shorts/pants I've ever played in! The only problem is that they cost $128 for the pants and $78 for the shorts. This is a little pricy for me and I would like a similar feeling but for a lower price.

Anyone tried something similar to the lulu shorts/pants that they like? Or other comfortable materials that are comfortable playing in?

I like the Nike pants/shorts. I just picked up a pair of shorts and pants from their new line - fairway - and find them to be very comfortable. Catch them on sale with a retailer coupon and you can snag them for $50-$65.

Under Armour shorts and pants with their performance waistband are really nice. I have a couple of them in both shorts and pants and they feel very similar to my abc shorts.

Go to Walmart and get the Ben Hogan shorts for $20 or the OP hybrid board shorts for $18.

Best shorts for golf out there, dollar for dollar.

I second this re: hybrid board shorts, except I got mine at Target. Lightweight and quick-dry material. My RLX and J Lindberg shorts often get left in my cupboard on hot days because the hybrid board shorts feel much better.

long story short, no, not they aren't

different brands have different weights/breathability, along with different fabric blends. some companies include a small bit of spandex for stretch, some have move cotton for a heavier feel.

i own pairs of travis mathew, lulu lemon, fila and izod. all feel different, and i'll choose the shorts depending on the overall heat and humidity.

if the OP is looking for a cheaper option, definitely look at fila, i found them at Kohls, and with they're typical sales, can be had for around 20 bucks.

I've been looking at Fila as an option for trying to save money compared to UA and Nike. $20 a pair compared to $50-$80 is a lot easier on the wallet.

How are the Fila compared to the bigger name brands?

Izod golf slim. They're not too slim and the leg opening is the perfect width, 50% shoelace showing. The material is a little heavier than average, but they seem to breath really well. They have a rubber shirt stay sown into the inside of the waist, like dress pants. $25 on amazon, I think they normally run $60-$80. I've always hated polyester pants and I've tried most of the brands; these Izod's drape like IJP wool blend...

I have a pair of the lululemon ABC pants and agree while they are great for golfing, they cost way too much!

I usually buy IZOD pants, mainly because we have an outlet in my area and I can usually pick up a pair for about 25-35 bucks. They have lots of colours and a couple different fits and weights. I always wear pants when golfing (my preference) and found their pants to be light and cool enough to wear in 30 deg Celsius (86 F?) weather comfortably.

Definitely check out the Izod shorts. If you shop at Macy's, then these could usually be had for less than $20 on average.

I have a couple pairs of the ABC shorts and they're awesome. Maybe a fraction short on me, but nothing major. Anyway, I picked up some of the Nike 5 Pocket shorts. They're much more fitted than the older Nike shorts and have a good bit of stretch.

honestly I think that they are a hidden gem, well, as hidden as something sold in a massive store like Kohl's can be. They're super lightweight, with mesh pockets. They're a decent length (hit me mid-knee, and I'm 5'9"), but I like my shorts a little above the knee so i had them taken up an inch. they definitely last as well, I've had 3 pairs, that have been my primary shorts for the past two seasons and look just as good as they did the day I bought them. no fading or loose threads either.

really, if you put a swoosh or the three stripes on them, people would gladly pay 50 to 60 bucks for them. so the 20-30 bucks they go for is an absolute steal.

The Fila shorts are decent. Not in the same league as the Ben Hogans though.

I have three pairs of the Fila, which are in the rotation. I'm wearing a khaki pair right now. The only knocks on them are the weird cut for the front pockets. It's kind of a roundish swoosh that makes the opening way bigger than it needs to be and more in front than on the side.

The second is the mesh pockets. Horrible idea. If you put a tee or ball mark repair tool in there, it'll stick you in the leg through the mesh. Especially if you crouch to read putts. I've stopped crouching.

Don't get me started on car keys.

And I usually carry my scorecard and cell phone in my left pocket. Not with the mesh. Due to leg sweat, the card gets funky and wet by the turn on hotter days and my phone's face needs to be cleaned off.

I wish mesh pockets would go away. Just make the pockets out of a nice moisture wicking material and I'll be fine.

I didn't see anyone mention Puma yet. Nice moisture wicking fabric, and the fit is the best I can find. One secret is to find a pair with a button waist, instead of the clip that's on dress pants. The button are the older version and the older versions have deeper pockets. The shallow pockets are fine for walking, but stuff will fall out of your pockets if you are riding.

As far as price, I look for them on sale. Budget Golf recently had the khaki color for $30 a pair.

Costco gets walk shorts in every summer, last few years have been Oneill but my local this year got quicksilver. 25 bucks. They are usually patterned if that's ok and longer length (I'm 6'1 and they go to the knee). I like them for goldfand price can't be beat.

Go early in the summer clothing season (like now) unless you are a 28 or 42 waist or else you won't find your size.
