Going to Vegas on our Honeymoon in May

And my soon to be good wife (non golfer!) has let me out to play golf once, I also would like to go for the best club fitting available, cost depending. I'm a TM guy with a 4 Handicap

Any recommendations?

We're staying at the Wynn

Thanks Wrxers

TaylorMade has a fitting center on the Strip right next to the airport. That's the best option for TM clubs. For playing once and not leaving the place, try the Winn itself. Its certainly one of the better courses in Vegas and as long as you're staying there, the price will be a lot better than if you were staying elsewhere. I'd think it was worth a once in lifetime type play.
I stayed at the Wynn several years ago and the course looked excellent. I think they wanted around $400 to play there. I decided to play down on the strip and out in Henderson.

I played Cascata at the beginning of March and it was fantastic. Over the last couple of years Ive played some great courses such as Pebble Beach, Spyglass, Pasatiempo, Sea Island, Kiawah, Harbour Town, Dove Mountain and a lot of high end courses in Scottsdale and I had as good a time at Cascata as anywhere else. That place is awesome. Felt like I was playing at an Oasis in the desert among the mountains. Cant wait to go back to play again and try the Wynn and Shadow Creek as well.

You could taxi to Paiute and still pay about 1/2 what Wynn charges as a highly overated couse IMO!

Best advice is get a rental car as they are dirt cheap here and make the trek to Paiute.
Amen. You could rent a car, play golf, eat, go to the Wynn Buffet for dinner, go see a show and still have $ left over for drinks vs playing at Wynn.

I've played at the Wynn and the green fee was $300 but it was in the middle of summer and was 877 degrees outside. While nice, very nice, it's not as nice as Shadow Creek and I don't know what the green fees are now. They seem to fluctuate between $300-$500 for hotel/non-hotel guests and season. I'll be there next weekend so I can find out for sure then.

Wynn felt a little underwhelming. You're right off the strip so its convenient but you're also looking at the behemoth Encore and Wynn. Whereas Shadow you feel like you're in your own private golf course in another state.

You know, OP, can I just add a few thoughts?

I would sure like you to play Shadow Creek. It's your honeymoon, your wife is giving you a pass to play once, and GD, if my wife-to-be is giving me a one day pass to play in Vegas then I'm going all-in. Shadow Creek is an amazing place. The service, the everything actually, is very very memorable and my buddies and I still talk of our rounds there many years ago.

Is it the best course in the nation? Of course not. Is it the toughest? No. But it is fair, challenging and a unique experience like very few. Of course, you pay for it. If you're not all that interested I totally get it. I'm just kinda eggin you on to play it because it is Nevada's No. 1 golf course for a reason. Maybe you can play it on a return trip, but anyone who's married will tell you the $$ you used to have to play golf now goes to family life, and kids, don't even get me started on that!!! lol.. And thinking you're going to return and do it with your buddies is a pretty tough thing to pull off, not a lot of buddies wanna throw down $500 green fees plus a tip for the driver and your caddie..

I know I just told you not to play Wynn and implied to save your money. But hey, this is all about you. For now. Because after May, it's all about her. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Go play the finest golf course on your honeymoon, take lots of pics, and have a lifetime of slammin memories.

There are so many fun courses in Vegas, it's difficult to go wrong. I've played TPC Vegas and Bali Hai. I enjoyed both. However with Bali you'll have to deal with low-flying planes taking off over your head. I got used to it pretty quick.

When I was in Vegas last the one course I really wanted to play was closed, and that was Reflection Bay. However I've heard that it has opened back up. If I get back to Vegas again, that one is tops on my list.

So true about your "golf $$$" vanishing once married :)

I just got back from Vegas this past weekend and literally saw no one on the Wynn course. Same thing when I was there 2 yrs ago for my bachelor party. Had a birds eye view of the Wynn course staying in a Palazzo suite and saw maybe a handful of players over an entire weekend. It is very convenient though as it's on the strip. Might be worth the $ for some people.

I thought you couldn't even get on Shadow Creek without an invite? Can any Joe call for a tee time and get one? Has to be more than Wynn charges.

I'll be there this weekend at Wynn but not playin golf.

SC used to require a stay at an MGM property to play, but that policy is pretty lax. It is a known fact you can bring $500 in cash and you can have a tee time. Pretty tough to play on weekends as those times are kept for hotel guests but Mon-Thurs is pretty open if you've got the cash.

If you're interested let me know I'll PM you a # where you can get more info and a tee time.
You still need to stay at one of the properties and you can only get on by your host. The rate of 500 is just a number, because in order for the host to get you on, your credit limit must be pretty high and your playing level in the casino must warrant the host to consider making the call. Shadow is a track that wants as few people on it as possible.

Concur on the TM center. If you're going to play Wynn, be prepared for a $500 round granted that comes with free drinks.

FYI... The "TaylorMade Experience" is literally in the last portion of the landing path of Las Vegas International Airport. I learned this while there for the SLDR "Loft Up" campaign last year. Nothing like the turbines of a low flying 737 buzzing in your ear to test your concentration. Lol. The course is not that great but the range serves it's purpose. The shop is stacked with the latest and greatest TMag has to offer. Congrats on your nuptials!

Sorry, but this is inaccurate. If you're an MLife member and staying at an MGM property you can be transferred directly through to book a time. Your host may be able to work out a better rate but getting on is much simpler.

Trust me, my limit and rating are nowhere near anything special and I've had the conversation. I didn't get to play as they were overseeding the day I wanted but I was offered multiple alternate times that didn't work for my visit.

OP, if you're truly looking for something memorable Shadow or Cascata are the best out there. Wynn would be ultra convenient if you don't want to deal with a rental car or high cab fares. Rio Secco is a $50 cab ride each way from Bellagio. Really good track. Rental cars are widely available through several spots on the strip and dirt cheap. Easily a cheaper option than cabbing it anywhere. Bali Hai is on the strip. Course is a joke. Couldn't pay me to play it again. They survive on convention goers that are they bend over for ridiculous rates.

So true. And worth it for Paiute alone. Also nice to just take a little drive out of town after a few days on the Strip.

Overpriced piece of garbage course that is tight while trying to avoid hitting billboards. Then you have to fix ball marks on every green, the fact it is $69 just for locals should tell you to avoid this like the plague.
