Pitchfix Twister Review

I'm not sure about the rest of you guys but I own a lot of divot/ball mark repair tools. Some from tournaments I've been to, some I've received as gifts, others that just appeared in my golf bag. When I read about the Pitchfix Twister, it was just different enough that I thought I would buy one when they became available. They showed up on eBay last week and I ordered one. Took it out on my round today.

The Twister is on the left next to a traditional tool and a switchblade type divot tool. As you can see, the Twister is much thicker than regular type tools.

But outside the looks, does it work? Honestly, it's almost like magic. You stab the prongs into the ball mark depression a couple of times and the ball mark is gone. Just a tap of the putter and it's done. I would think if you have a tear in the green you would have to work the tool differently but I didn't have this happen today.

I would love one if it was given to me.

Not trying to be a jerk, but I picked up a few dozen free pitch mark tools over the years and they all seem to the trick. I can't see me spending money on one.

My God I tried to edit my post to get the pictures in line with the text but just couldn't seem to do it. Hope it still makes sense.

This looks like something I'd love to get for the members of my Men's club. It seems that quite a few of them don't know how to effectively use a regular divot repair tool.

Anymore reviews on this?

does it just pull up the damaged turf and shear the roots tour pro style, or does it actually repair it properly so it won't die 3 days after?

Great question!

OK... I got one and took it out on Sunday morning. I used it for 3 holes and it went back in the bag for the rest of the round.

2 out of the 3 times I tried to use it, I poked it into the ground, pulled it out, and a piece of turf from inside the pitch mark came out stuck to the tool. I then had to remove the turf from the tool, replace it into the pitch mark, then fix that mess. Some of the dirt got stuck down in the holes and made it notably more difficult to twist the prongs up and down.

I tee'd off early, so maybe this just isn't so good for wet/damp greens. I'll give it another try during an afternoon round... maybe.

I can't imagine this really being good enough to justify carrying that giant thing in my pocket. I'll be honest I think my standard Pitchfix [i]is [/i]actually better than other divot tools I've used though.

The Twister is very poorly designed. It does a great job of fixing the first couple of ballmarks, then it gets clogged and won't open or close. The original Pitchfix is better. If there was a way to keep it from getting clogged, the Twister would be fantastic. A real shame.

It works for dry conditions. When the grass is wet it grabs the grass and it does get stuck to the tool. Also dirt gets into the tool and the twister gets jammed. I ran it under the faucet and it helped loosen back the twister function inside.

If the idea is that it pulls the depression up, then it's a horrible tool.

Does anyone have the Stinger version of this? It's sort of the same concept but I was wondering it it works better than the Twister or if its just as flawed.
