Thanks to Zero for creating the original...this should be faster loading and to start things properly, yes, I've made fish jump and haven't yet told the story of nailing the goose in the same round!

Keep the tee shot in play and you can score there. Very fun golf course but not insanely difficult.

I played Ruffled Feathers in a scramble on Sunday. My first time in Chicago, but the condition of the course, given the winter they had and the time of year, was excellent. I actually though it was a pretty cool layout, very enjoyable little course.

It looks like it's shaping up to be a nice weekend. I'll probably hit Harborside on Saturday, and walk a round on Sunday at TBD.

Kind of like calling you off the shot, telling you to hit wedge which you do and then almost hole.

Oh no App. It was Gramps idea. He gets ALL the credit. He doesn't like to credit those that actually get things done.

yea that old thread wa becoming a pain to load.

I played Sportsman front 9 yesterday in the opening day of after work golf league. Course is in so much better shape than last year at this time. Last year all the greens were destroyed and they had a temp green on #1 till June. This year there were some spots on them, but they ran fast and smooth. Shot a 43, was -1 after 2, but played the 3 par3s at 5 over. New swing is coming along nicely, especially off the tee where I hit 5/6 fairways with nice tiny draws. New irons swing is taking a little more time to get used to, but seeing some progress there as well.

Signed up for Shepherd's Crook scramble Saturday, supposed to be there by 7:15. Even though we paid in advance I'm calling it 50/50 on whether or not my team actually makes it up there for that.

Might sneak out tomorrow afternoon if the weather is nice.

Sunday, gonna find somewhere cheap to take the wife.

Relaxing? I've always found the course to be a tough test, especially on windy days. It's not your typical 9 hole goat track.

Unfortunately the training has me busy every day from 630am until 6pm so I don't have time to sneak in a round. I've gone to top golf twice (Scottsdale weather isn't the only thing that is hot) and am going to try and check out hot stix today. I come out to Scottsdale multiple times a year, so I don't feel that bad not playing on this trip. The weather is just perfect golf weather, no wind and hot!

Well, I played Arrowhead yesterday afternoon and was underwhelmed. It has a superb layout and is well manicured and in great condition yet it sets up as an old man's course. Now before anyone hammers into me let me explain where I'm coming from there.

It was a windy and cool day. No problem. Most holes were playing straight down or back into the wind. I ripped one down the 1st and was 30yrds from the front edge and hit a 4 iron on to the back edge of the 2nd. Tees were great, fairways were running hard and fast and the greens were true. What gets my goat is there were lots of greens that were ridiculously sloped or had approaches/surrounds that were extremely severe. My feeling (and also of 2 of my playing partners) was that this was fine for recovery shots around the green, but trying to get it close and under the hole in the right place on a regulation for the green shot left no room for error. A couple of yards off and you had a 10' downhiller with 10' of break (ie., my 2nd putt on the 2nd FFS). Yeah yeah, I'm bitching and moaning but even on the longer holes the landing area on and the greens themselves were extremely small (5th and 8th). And the lack of short grass around the green pisses me off. These courses are not holding US Opens so give it a fricken break and cut the ruddy grass! The greens are setup for the 18 'capper that hits a little 50yrd shot in and can then possibly get his 2 putt bogey. For those coming in from 160+, effen tough.

8 fairways, 8 greens, 2 birdies, a couple of watery graves, for 10 over.

    Was that a rant?

Really interesting perspective B. Without hesitation, it's a course where you can't be above the hole on many/any. Sounds like you started on the South...what was the back nine? Ironically, they have tried to host a couple of USGA event but because of some of the greens on the East they were denied. There's a certain guy on this site who had something like an 8 foot birdie putt from the side of the hole and the ball rolled off the green. He was particularly ****** off after the unfairness of that green.

I think the architect would take that as a compliment. 'Make the course playable for high cappers, but still provide a tough test for quality players. Being a short course, the defense has to be in the green complexes. There are plenty of area courses that require one to keep the ball below the hole.

If it's unacceptable for USGA events, you have problems.

It was two greens in specific. The par 5 I mentioned was the worst. And BTW, it was me (shockingly) who putted the ball off the green. And when it left the putter face it was moving about a mile every 3 days.
