Club fitting in the Austin or San Antonio area?

Mk technologies in San Antonio was pretty nice but I feel I was fit with the wrong shaft I can't hit it to this day.

Over at the first tee of San Antonio there is a little shop off to the side across the train track for the zoo called Polo field club repair. His name is Ben Carriker. He does have a launch monitor but he is kinda old school. You hit outside and he kinda goes buy the old saying ball doesn't lie. I mean it is good to know your stats but I do agree.

These 2 places couldn't be more apart. Where mk technologies had all the tech and I was fit wrong. Polo fields I have bought multiple shafts and still am playing most of them.

Hope this helps.

You're going to have a hard time finding anything in San Antonio. Trust me, I've spent thousands on incorrect fittings and equipment.

Good luck.

I think I'm going to give Ben Carriker a try. He only has Ping and Titleist, but the fittings are free, so I'm only out some time if I don't find it worthwhile. I had a couple sessions at MK Golf, and feel less than confident about the results. For one, he had my driver speed at 100, but have had three other people measure me all between 108 and 115.

Found this topic because I was looking for a good all-around fitter in my area. I, too, was not impressed with MK when I went. They seemed almost uninterested in me with a 13 HDCP. They were flippant about how a fitting could not help me, and I should just buy the lessons with Caruso.

I think I will give Carriker or Greg Hiller at the Alamo Golf Trail a try.

Austin now has a Club Champion facility. I have not used them but they have been in Houston and Dallas for some time and have seen both good and marginal reviews. We need some people to try them and let everyone know if it was worth the cost. http://clubchampiongolf.com/

I have used the UT Golf Club. They have a great facility, all the tech equipment needed in a weather protected setup hitting out onto the range - using Prov1 range balls. Greg has Callaway, Titlist, Ping & maybe Mizuno. (Does not do Taylormade). He does Hogan irons but did not have any demos to hit when I was there. The cost is very reasonable and the equipment (includes video, weight distribution, etc.) is fantastic. Pricing quoted for Callaway Apex CF16 irons was very competitive to pricing at big store such as Golfsmith.

Good luck finding a place that works for you.

I did not have a great experience at mk golf tech. My club head speed with my driver is 95-105, their monitor had me at 84mph. I feel like it was off by a bit. I carry my 8 iron 150 75% of the time and it was barely reaching over 100 yards. Also I’m a 16 handicap and they seemed uninterested in a fitting. I understand my swing and the mechanics behind it, and they acted like I had no idea what was going on.

Responding to a bit of an old post but a coworker of mine that lives in Austin went to Club Champion for a shaft fitting for his Callaway Epic driver. They fit him in to a Fujikura Atmos Red TS. I mention that since its a pretty mainstream, non-exotic shaft. It took them about 3 weeks to deliver that shaft to him which seemed like an eternity and also IMO that shaft is not a good fit for his swing (high negative AOA, high spin).
