Flagstaff..surrounding area courses?

Recommended Posts

I had started a Portland thread. Wifey and I were going to see the Oregon coast for a few days and Mt Hood. That has all changed...

The wife had it planned so I could not get close enough to BANDON DUNES so what's the point of even going to Oregon :haha: JK

We have booked Sedona/Flagstaff now. She has never seen the Grand Canyon so I figured why not. I will have one day in Phoenix but not sure if I will play there, plus have been a there a few times honestly.

Any recommendations on courses in the Flagstaff area...? I think we are only one night in Sedona.

Flagstaff is short on good public courses. Continental CC is not worth it. Elephant rocks in Williams is fun.

Drive to Sedona and play either Sedona golf resort or Oakcreek CC.

Stoneridge in Prescott Valley is IMO the best northern AZ public course. They don't allow walking however so it's a big turn off for me.

Hope you enjoy!

Sedona golf resort has great elevation so you get a great view of the red rocks. They claim (cart ladies) that number 10 (par 3) is the most photographed hole in az. Not massively difficult (it is a resort course) but definitely fun.

Oak creek canyon is less elevation and is a tighter course with more trees in play - again fun. Oh and they "make" the cart girl where heels on Fridays.....

Stoneridge is fun in Prescott more " green desert" and lots of elevation shots down to fairways where you then hit uphill to green.

Last year with some buddies I did a weekend in Sedona where we did 36 at oak creek on Friday then 36 Saturday/ Sunday at Sedona golf course. Then another trip was 18 Friday at stoneridge followed by 18 Saturday.

I am actually doing both trips again this year.

Both nice courses but, if you're going to play just one course at Sedona, I would try to get on Seven Canyons. One of the best courses in the state. It's under new ownership and management and will go private soon but a call to the Pro Shop will likely result in a tee time.

Okay so called Seven Canyons. Yyyyeeeaaa that is a no go now. It is private already unless you stay at the Enchantment Resort.
Figured fine, maybe we stay there. NOT at $965.00 to $2586.00 a night for 3 people per night. WTF(?)...maybe I should have pushed harder for Bandon :man_in_love: At the $2856.00 rate we go message's at least LOL

I had already looked at the Sedona Golf resort and started to figure that would have to be on the list...moving up fast now though =_)

Oak Creek looked "decent" but was not sure. Found hit and misses on the reviews. Will do more reviewing.

Stoneridge I knew about from our last trip to Phoenix but never made it up there. Its about an 1.5 from Sedona so would kill a full day. Have to discuss with the wife on this one.

Elephant Rock I also figured would be in play given its location.

Thanks, looks like I have some options now.

That's a shame. I played 7 canyons a couple years ago while out there for work and paid $70 for 18 and a cart. I was hoping to do it again this year.

Not sure what reviews about Oak Creek you have seen, but it is a great course. It is a parkland/treed course with all the great Sedona views. It is better than Sedona Golf Resort.

If you want to stay and play try Talking Rock: http://talkingrockranch.com/visit/prescottstay-play/ It is the best course in Prescott Area with Hassayampa a close second.
