UA golf shorts and pants are a must. Shirts do not fit me great, I still prefer g-mac. As to shoes, I truly hope they release a spikeless golf shoe set on the original Apollo platform. That would kick my LC3 and Brooks PureGrit.

Ummm. Ok. UA is having a good year with Brady, Curry and Spieth. Outside of that, their innovation is terrible. They make ok stuff. Standard of excellence? No.

20 consecutive quarters of growth, I'd say there the new standard.

The question wasn't about their business. It was about their products being the standard of excellence. As for their business, you might want to take a look across the country in Beaverton as the standard.

Brady, Curry and Spieth? Those are three of the biggest names in sports, all having huge years repping a brand who is technically a newcomer to those three sports. Unlike Nike, who has been around since the 1960s, UA has been around for less than 20 years. And they started expanding into basketball and golf just recently. So is UA the new standard of excellence? Not quite. But right now they are rapidly expanding in most realms of the sporting world, representing some of the most recognizable athletes on the planet, and based on my experience and what I've heard from others, their customer service is second to none. Pretty impressive stuff in my opinion.

I've been wearing UA apparel for a number of years now because a few years ago everyone was wearing Nike everything trying to look like Tiger and I wanted to be different. Now that I've stuck with UA, it's a bonus that Jordan Spieth will be their biggest ambassador and no one can call me a bandwagoner.

I love their shorts and pants for golf. I'm not a huge fan of their golf shirts. Just seem a bit boring for my tastes. As far as off the course, they are pretty much all I wear. Their heatgear this year has great shorts and shirts. And once winter comes around I wear nothing but their stuff.

I like the UA products I have a couple pairs of shoes one for the trail that I love and dread the day they are worn out and the other is my go to shoe for the gym. The UA hunting gear is top of the line IMHO and They are making smart moves across the sporting world. They signed a promising young star in JS that turned out to be as stated by another here like winning the lottery, but they also made other gutsy, but smart moves in signing Notre Dame, and other big name professionals that have been named in earlier post. UA has the momentum and smart leadership that I feel will only continue to solidify their presence as a top sporting good/apparel brand.

UA is nice and JS is certainly going to add value and exposure to their brand. Saw this the other day.

Nike is actually the No. 1 most valuable apparel brand. Not footwear brands or athletic apparel brand, but the leading apparel brand ahead of Zara, H&M, Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Gucci and Tommy Hilfiger. It also beat Louis Vuitton, Hermès, adidas and Lululemon, who also sit on the Top 10 apparel brand list. See the Top 5 Most Valuable Apparel Brands 2015 here below:

The shift in rankings and rise of Nike certainly underlines a general trend in the industry, the rise of athletic footwear and so called “athleisurewear.”

Their golf apparel is awful. Mr Plank is having a great Spring, as has been mentioned w/ Spieth, Curry, and Brady. But nobody will ever confuse their liscensed golf apparel (produced by Gear for Sports), with quality.

Do yourself a favor and do a little research on what each company's growth rate (and corresponding share price) has been since 2008 or so. I think you'll see UA is the standard for any investor in the athletic apparel industry.

I love when someone tries to tell me something about my business. You tell me which company is the standard of excellence again:

Company A:
1 Quarter of Revenues: $7B
Stock price: $106

Company B:
2014 Annual Revenues: $3B
Stock price: $84

Which would you choose as the standard of excellence? Again, this was about product.

Chili i agree w/ you. I like when people are comparing the growth of a smaller company to a larger one. If Im not mistaken NIKE added a UA in their sales last year (related to dollars). Tough to catch a company when they are out growing you.

I like their shorts just fine but that's about it. I just don't know how much product Spieth will actually move. He's great but it takes more than athletic talent to do it. He needs to show more personality and charisma.

I know we're getting way off track now, so apologies to everyone else for that. Your both missing the point. From a purely investment standpoint UA is the better option. The fact that you are showing stock price and revenue just proves my point that your missing the fact. As an investor (and yes I do this at an institutional level) I want UA. For all your comparisons of how much bigger Nike is I ask you just look at Microsoft and Apple. Different industry alebit you can scale Nike and UA to them 20-30 years ago. Nike is a blue chip and no arguing that and UA is a midcap where your almost buying alpha, but that alpha comes at a cheap share price compared to competition, with a faster growth rate, and proven splits every time the stock touches 100. It's not rocket science. You can buy UA at 90 watch it split at 100 back to 50, and watch it go back up to 100 and do this over again. And at because of its growth rate that it can actually sustain this. It's growing like a tech company but producing a consumer good, will it stop? Eventually yes but not until its market cap begins to outstrip its growth. And for any investor that is a long time horizon.

SC-TX,

I appreciate the investor side of things. But we are talking about the standard of excellence. We can look at lots of different stocks that got hot and did just that and then the company flamed out. But the long term guys like McDonald's and Coke would be considered the standards of excellence, correct?
