New Hampshire golf

We vacation every year up at the lake and have been playing the same course. We will play it again, but looking for a change to something nicer. Any suggestions for courses within 1hour of winnipesaukee??

I just googled Lake Winnipesaukee to The Oaks (Somersworth, NH) my old course - 1 hour and 3 minutes ;-)

It's a great track - definitely worth considering.

I started a thread on this last year under the New England forum. We go to Moultonborough, so that may affect travel time to/from courses. I played Owl's Nest last year, which is a good track. It is under new management this year, and I have no idea of its condition.

It used to be very difficult to get on Lake Winnipesaukee CC and very expensive, although that may have changed. If I recall correctly, the Greens Fee was around $150 a few years ago. Great track.

Head down to Portsmouth CC...great RTJ track and always in good shape, you won't regret it!

Thanks. We have been playing Waukewan since I was 3, so we will play there a bunch. $150 is probably a bit steep, if it was $80-$100 i'd probably do it. I'll have my pro reach out and I'll report back. Portsmouth is a tad too far. We're staying in Sandwich.

Just following up: Pro called Lake Winnipesaukee GC- called me and said "how much is reasonable for a greens fee?" I said 200 would be tops, he said he wouldn't call them back to ask for a time.

Ended up playing Waukewan twice. Almost aced #10 and 11 en route to a stellar 42-35 77. Had fun and weather was gorgeous. Can't complain

Canterbury Woods might be one that interests you, about 10 minutes north of Concord on 93.

Thanks for the suggestion. We might try that next year. We stay in Sandwich so getting there is about an hour each way. I kind of like playing Waukewan because I like that there are 5 par 4s i can drive, 2 of the par 5's i'll have nothing less than 8 iron in, another a 5 iron and then there is the 210 yd par 3 which makes perfect sense in between a 450 and 420 yd par 5.

Just so you know, I'm talking about Concord, NH and not Concord, MA.

Gotta get to Portsmouth CC. Semi-private so you can play any day in the afternoons. I play in the member guest there every year. Love the track
