DJ's Presser at St. Andrews

Just saw DJ's press conference from this morning. The obvious questions were fired at him. Interesting to hear some of his answers.

For instance, when asked about blowing off the awards ceremony as the runner-up at Chambers Bay he replied, "I didn't know about it." Wait.......what? Really? You frickin' knew your responsibility, you knucklehead. Okay, you were pissed about screwing up on the 18th green, but you knew about it.

Why can't these guys just say........"I just lost the US Open and was beside myself pissed off, so I thought I was entitled to a pass. BTW, how do you think you would handle that situation....you know, if you lost the US Open?"

I'd certainly have a lot more respect if he'd just been honest. He would probably have shut that journalist up too (and any future attempts to ask him something similar).

Umm...Dustin Johnson doesn't strike me as the most intelligent man on the planet, and it's rare for an American tournament to have an awards ceremony for 2nd place......maybe he honestly forgot about it.

Or not.

He was signed autographs for little tykes so I give him a pass.

Kinda talked out of both sides of his mouth, by saying 'didn't know about it', and following it up by saying 'i just wanted to get out of there.'

Who really cares at this point. The guy just choked away a major by 3-jacking on the 18th. I give him a pass for not really being in the best state of mind. And as someone else said.... he was signing autographs on his way out, which could have way more impact for some kid who got said autograph than him standing up there to get a trophy for said choke.

Kinda seems like a nothing-burger to me. To be honest, not having him looking crest-fallen at the awards ceremony didn't reduce my enjoyment of the final round of the US Open one iota.

I can't believe the idiots in the media are still harping on it. I'm more interested in what he's done to prepare for this week's tournament.

Payne Stewart walked off the course without interviews one time when Zinger dropped a bomb on him to win the Memorial.

If Jack could understand it, then I don't see why others can't.

What's the point of even asking the question to begin with? It's old news, asking something like that you're just trying to get DJ to slip up so you can write something bad about him. Need an example of how it's done? I recall Adam Scott man up by sitting on the 18th green watching Ernie Els fondel the Claret Jug right in front of him just a few years ago.

I read he said that final 4 footer hit a bump and missed. I don't know about his other putts but that one was not on the green, he yanked it.

Meh, it wasn't the classiest move but seriously if you're not getting the trophy who the hell cares if you're at the trophy presentation?

While I don't believe for a second that these losses haven't left a mark, I do think he'll manage to drag himself to a major win, eventually, and I wouldn't be overly surprised if it was at St. Andrews.

He's so uncomfortable in these media situations, that I always just hope that he'll get through every sentence without losing his way and get out of the media center in one piece.

For those who didn't see DJ today, do you remember the wonderful press conference Greg Norman gave after playing the final round of the Masters like a baby deer standing up for the first time? This was the exact opposite of that.

Seems like someone would definitely tell him about it. I bet he didn't know about it, someone told him, but he was already half way out the door and decided to skip it.

So technically he's telling the truth.

For you to assume you know he is lying. Lame.

I would love to see him win by a mile this week and shut the idiots up.

I felt bad for DJ in the presser today. Sheesh. 12 different reporters asked him what it felt like to three-putt from 12 feet to throw away the US Open playoff. And, the only one who didn't ask about that asked him if he thought Jordan Spieth would win the grand slam....
