Restoring Scotty Cameron Pro Platinum

Hello all,

I am looking for some help in regards to refinishing a putter that has seen better days. I recently purchased a Scotty Cameron Pro Platinum online and it was significantly beat up. So I thought I would restore and make it look good. I looked on some other forums and saw people using the black oxide sold by caswell as something that would blacken the putter. I stripped the paint off of the putter and sanded all the way from 120 grit sandpaper to 1500 grit sandpaper. The putter came out very nice and smooth. I applied the black oxide and the results were not as I expected. I followed instructions on the bottle and from other forums on how to apply the blacker but its coming out very streaky and parts of the club are coming out brown instead of black. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to make the putter come out better? This is my first time doing a restoration so I'm trying to learn from my mistakes and perfect the process. Thanks for your help. I will post pictures of the putter to show you the work.
