I came from an older set of Hogan Apex FTX(?), that I got new about ten years ago. The long irons were beyond my skill but I was good with the short irons. I decided it was time for new sticks earlier this year and went to my local fitter just to try the Mizunos. I liked the JPX's and the Mizuno fitting cart and walked out with a set on order.

I haven't been able to compare against other forged clubs other than the old hogans. The JPX is slightly firmer in the sweet spot but the size of the sweet spot more than makes up for that.

Very nice set up. I also love the bag itself. Is that one of this year's models?

I believe it's the '13 model, made by Sun Mountain. Had it since the beginning of last season and it's been a great bag.

How are you liking the shafts in the 3W and 18* have the same clubs and desperately need to reshaft them with stiff shafts.
  • StillboardStillboard Leftie Members Posts: 1,004
They're both low launching. The shaft in the 18* is the made for/stock shaft though. The 18* is long and accurate and has become my go to club on par 5's and tee shots, so the 3w rarely gets played anymore.

I'm actually in High Point and have a rotation of local public courses I like to play. Oak Hollow in High Point and Maple Leaf in Kernersville are my two favorites. Oak Hollow isn't in terrible shape but every course I've played this year was hit hard by the late freeze.

    Hey,

Fellow lefty here. Was wondering how you like the cobra driver looking to buy either a bio cell or amp cell

It took a bit to get over the wear marks on the face but it's turned out to be a good driver. I got it used earlier this year with the stock Kuro Kage shaft, I believe this was the ACP shaft. Wasn't a fan of the shaft got the Phenom and love it.

I added a small strip of lead behind the logo on the leading edge and now get nice roll on an already good drive.

After recent distance issues I decided to retry counterbalance. I had previously cut a 38" YES! Pippi Mid Tour to 36" added a 17" SuperStroke and a tour lock weight. It didn't work. Last week I cut it to 34.5" and added a Winn 15" counterbalance grip. Only one round and a few practice green sessions and it seems to be working much better with forward press.

Original post updated with current bag. Swapped drivers for a bit, dropped the three wood, swapped putters, and added the GolfWRX tag to the bag. Still getting used to the center shaft but improving every round with the CB putter, 34 putts today with four three putts.Pictures of that ugly driver are coming sometime.

12 club bag is working great now. Using the '11 18* rescue as a 3 wood replacement. Getting nearly the same distance with much greater ball striking. I need to sell the Amp Cell because the 910/Phenom combo is a cannon for me. Counterbalanced center shaft is working wonders on my putting, averaging under 2.0 putts a hole for the first time ever.

Here's the beaten, battered, and worn out 910 that made its reemergence.

Back up to 13 clubs with fairway back in the bag. The 46* and possibly 4h may be on the way out over winter.

Here's a better address pic of the ugly thing I call driver.

Back to 13 clubs, dropped the '11 Rescue. Played the old original YES! Tracy from my '14 bag with success Sunday, but just grabbed a SeeMore m3w off the BST and slapped on a Garson Max grip. I was really liking the feel and roll earlier on the practice green.

Current WITB in original post but is:

It's found its place back in the closet, I got to where I couldn't trust myself for distance control with the heavy putter. Playing the Yes! Tracy Tour @33"; w/ a Flatso currently. Averaging just under two putts a hole with it which is great for my game. I'm a big fan of the C groove and the 'Tour' heads have a great soft feel.
