Need More Fade!

Which Way to Go regarding equipment?
Most golfers would love to have a hook, but I think its a curse. I am a 3 hcp using TM 2005RAC tp irons with TT Dynamic Gold Lite S300. My mistakes are generally low left (hook for a right hander). I have learned to hit a fade repeatedly with the driver, but I know its the shaft in my R510 tp which is a FUJI Fit on 11-SIX stiff. Just wondering, if I reshaft my irons, which set and spec would be the right way to go? Someone I really trust suggested just to bend my irons a couple degrees flat. Any suggestions??? Thanks in advance....RAD :man_in_love:

are the clubs fitted to you, steel shafts are not going to make much of a difference in right or left ball flight unless flex is way off. i dont think the driver shaft is whats making you fade the ball either. give some numbers you hit tempo of swing what irons your playing, need lots more info

If you were balooning balls high left, it could be a shaft issue. But since you are hitting striaght left and low, it is most likely a swing issue.

However, a lie angle that is too upright can also cause this, so get fitted on a lie board.

Willy........Thanks for response. Irons are not fitted to me. They are stock loft/lie. Not sure what swing speeds are with irons, but 140 yds - 9i, 150 yds - 8i, 160 yds - 7i, ......200-205 - 3i. Driver carry and roll avg. 265-275 yds. I always used to hook the driver. Just recently bought a tour issue head with the Fujikura Fit on 11 - six shaft. Since then I can hit a controlled fade, which I could never hit with my stock R510 and an Aldila NV65-S shaft. Thats where I got onto the idea that JUST MAYBE the lower torque / higher kick point shaft may have made the difference. If so, would like to make the transition into the irons. Thanks....

Geeza............Thanks. Would certainly be a good place to start. Have a good one.....RAD

The fade with your driver is more than likely due to the face angle change. The TM tour models sit more square to open than the retail models that are always closed. The fact that you are hitting low hooks with your irons tells me that you are very right hand dominant and probably shutting the clubface down through impact or coming from waaay too far inside. I would ask your local pro if he had 5 minutes to watch you hit a few balls...who knows, you might get a free tweak.

best of luck,

Twig..........Thanks for the reply. In the immortal words from the movie Forest Gump....."by G##, you are a #^*@$*@ genius!". Exactly spot on. I am very right hand dominant and very "handsy". Also spot on with the comment about taking the club on a very inside plane. Have been working on changing over to fade, so much so that I am now stuck between swing planes. Was always a hooker, but getting tired of seeing the ball zip and run off the green. At our club we have very spirited matches with our pros, so getting swing tips is kinda like sleeping with the enemy. Not that I wouldn't seek advice though. I think I am going to tinker with shaft changes just for the heck of it. The shaft in my TMR510 is really very high torque and a bit more whippy than others I have tried, so I was thinking if I could approximate that feel with the irons, I might be onto something. You are also right on with the comment about the square to open face on the tour issue 510. Anyway.......thanks a ton for you comments and suggestions. Have a great day!!!!!!!!! Rad
