Best Cleveland iron set ever made? Opinions please

OrangeGravyOrangeGravy WAMembers Posts: 1,163 ✭✭
I'm really close to pulling the trigger on a set of the newer 588 Precision Forged combo irons. They're sup er cheap and I've read nothing but good things about the CB and MB versions. I've been a cleveland wedge guy ever since the being given an old tour action 56 when I was a kid.

I have come across quite a few older sets of cleveland blades on ebay and it made me think! What is considered to be the best set of irons they ever produced? Thanks for your replies

TA5 - The first set I bought for myself and my first time in a simulator. Most importantly, the first set that fit like an old shoe right out of the box. Without fear of hyperbole, I'd say I went from hacker to golfer with that set. We made that journey together and became as close as Phil and Bones over the years. It's true for me, I'll never forget my first great fit.

Gunmetal TA3's for me. Bought them new 12 years ago, tried a few other iron sets in between but always went back to my TA3's. They are currently in my bag with no plans to replace them.

I plan on getting a set of 588's after I thin the herd a bit, I regret those not being my last purchase. I love my TA FF1's , my favorite set by far , fits me perfectly. I've contemplated getting a set of the CG1 black pearls too but those will have to wait. I really like Cleveland blades, you look at how many guys they've had on staff through the years and the legacy of Roger Cleveland, lot of great input going into their clubs.
