JDay putter coming to retail

TMAG releasing 20 Jason Day itsy bitsy prototype putters on August 20. $750 is the price point. Whos buying?

$750???? What the hell! I like the look of his putter but I will keep my Taylor Made Ghost Spider. F THAT. $750 SMH. Wow that's crazy and can't even imagine having a conversation with the person at Taylor Made who approved this price and thinks it will sell

Tbh it will sell because it looks exactly like Jason Day's putter and this is the only place you can find them. I (and others) love the thrill of having limited edition equipment. I just wish it was cheaper

Man I wish I had the coin. I'm not even a putter guy but every time they show his putter on screen it just looks so sick. Id buy this in a heartbeat

In related news TMAG tried to get $500 for this Arc1 putter which IMO looks like it belongs in the bargain bin at Walmart

The lack of milled face bothers me. I feel like at that price point you should get a better feeling putter

I'm not a fan of the jet engines on the back

I think I liked the $500 dollar one a little more

I like the pure roll insert. It's not as nice feeling as a scotty but my DLL is the first mallet I've had that I can control distance very well.

$750 is a little steep though.....

Buy an itsy bitsy for $40 used and have continental murder it out. Save 650 dollars.

I've been wanting taylormade to release this putter for years... I'm super excited they are but can't afford one at that price point. I have the spider s slant and the original itsy bitsy slant neck nut it it's not the same. Happy for whoever gets one. Good job taylormade!

It will sell, but I will not be buying. Doesn't seem worth the money. He putts great with it and I am sure I can make some with it as well. But no way am I dropping $750 on this bad boy.

Wish they would bring a retail version of it. I know they had a spider s slant neck but I cant find one anywhere. Bring that back. Keep the head white and the normal spider alignment system that way its not too "tour-ish". Offer a black shaft option and a $200 price point and they may be able to sell a bunch of these at the moment.

Keep the head white? I guess you are assuming a new formulation of white paint which doesn't flake off from breathing on it.

Don't worry! For anyone complaining about the $750 retail price you'll soon be able to pick up an Itsy Bitsy 2.0, Itsy Bitsy Superfast, Itsy Bitsyest and Bitsy Itsy Titsy we're running out of names here, limited edition retail putters at 2/3rd the price! For 12% of the quality....


You might also pick up one of these in the BST four days later for $1200 just like any other Limited Scotty, or it could plummet down to $250 like any other TM....

I was just spit balling an idea. I would love to try JD's putter but I am not about to pony up $750 for one. I was just thinking if TM kept their current white putter in a spider head with the slant neck that it might sell pretty good right now. I would love to see the itsy bitsy slant in all black but I dont think that is going to happen, so I just ball parked a way to maybe try and get something "tourish" to an otr putter for an otr price.

$750 for an exact replica of a tour pro's putter doesn't seem that steep to me. I'm sure those will sell out very quickly. It's probably some garbage steel with black paint on it so $750 for a standard model would be insane, but a replica of a somewhat well-known putter is different.

Agree, Scotty Cameron sells and "inspired by" for about the same price and people fall all over themselves to buy one. Those are not even exact replicas.

An exact replica for $750 seems like a pretty good deal.

What time do they start the sale ?

Most amateurs don't putt on greens that roll at 12-13 either... I think this is part of the reason why odyssey is so widely used on tour regardless of sponsorship deals.

side note: It would be interesting to see what kind of breakdown there is between fully milled face vs insert of say the top 125 in the fedex cup race. Would you count Nike as a milled or insert...? hmmmmm.
