Why do people usually cover up the serial numbers? I notice this a lot but I've always been curious to why.

The only reason is if you are a caddie and you sell some of your players gear then the manufacturer won't be able to identify who it belongs to.

There is no reason to other than that situation.

I'm not really sure why I covered the serial #'s. I saw another guy selling a JW a while back that was covering the #'s, and thought I would do the same here. Not when one is for sale though (these are not).

I sold a SS JW Scottsdale Anser to a fellow in Scottland and sent him all the spec's from Ping that I had received about the putter, as to fully disclose it was truly a tour issued putter. A lot of guys like to throw around the phrase "Tour Issue" these days...


I purchased all 3 JW's that I have owned. One was from a large overseas retailer, another from an auction on eBay and the 3rd as a buy-it-now on eBay. I am not a caddie hawking tour gear. Just a collector and very part time restorer.

He used to make the tour and specialty putters at ping. Search and you'll find plenty of info.

LOL..when I saw this thread the only thing I could think of was ALL your incredible Ping putters.

Here are pictures of my old jim wells putters. I can't find any pictures of my old tungsten weighted redwood zb. Ive also got a tungsten weighted ping darby, but havent taken any pics of it yet. Ive had all the jas putters but those shouldn't be in this thread.
