True but it does affect bounce angles as well.

to the average joe it would but a tour player can easily have a set that is completely customized from the sole grids to the lofts

The 716s are quite similar to his trusty 680s but I doubt he wants to switch right before the playoffs. I'm sure he will tinker with them in the off season and see if he wants to game them for next year or not.

if you've ever hit a 680...you'd know why.

they're very very good blades and honestly some of the best titleist has ever put out. i know titleist loyalists will probably second this --

At a clinic Adam did this summer - he mentioned no new irons have the same feel as his. He mentioned he gets them refinished when necessary, and will continue to do so.
Cool info! Refinishing irons is ok by the USGA? I just assumed it would make the clubs "illegal."

you would have to hit the 680 681 etc vs the 710-714 series to understand the feel difference... the 680-681 seem to have a more concentrated amount of "beef" behind the sweet spot vs the newer flat backed irons... That plus the overall profile and topline are smaller... not by much...but if smaller fits your eye then you can see the difference...716MB is titleist trying to wean these players off the 680 for sure

No complete legal. So is regrooving wedges and irons if you use the right tool/machine.

Do not the new 716s have that tear drop shape?
yep..pretty similar.... but still no reason to swap.... no new "tech" involved... im sure scott will eventually swap...but no reason too until he decides... absolutely no performance gain to be had... maybe a few $..but im not sure theres any extra $ involved ...

The new 716 MB was designed after the 680 because so many players preferred the look. Expect them to play the 716.

The 680 were build from hand-made molds, whereas the 716 were computer-designed. In theory, the 716 should be a more consistent, precise iron.

I like the way 716MBs looked at the store and this is coming from someone who love 681Ts to death.

I get what your saying...but just don't think that the 680 681 or any of the custom grind or tour player MBs from the early to mid 2000s left anything on the table....I just don't think its possible to say that todays MB has anything to offer that the 680 doesn't...except for me maybe less offset in the short irons... theres just no "tech" there... don't get me wrong.... I have my eye on a 716 set eventually.... But wont be until they pop up used... a custom order for my length, shaft etc would run $1200 plus ... so ill wait for a half price set of heads and build my own..
