I buy all my grip making supplies at Golfsmith.

I use:

1. Grips......... :good:

2. Grip solvent - http://www.golfsmith.com/products/916A

3. Grip tape - http://www.golfsmith.com/products/9026

4. Masking tape for building up the grip - http://www.golfsmith.com/products/903B

5. Manual grip tape remover - http://www.golfsmith.com/products/8228

6. Victorinox Golf Tool, small blade knife, small scissor & tweezers - http://www.victorinox.ch/index.cfm?site=vi...=195&lang=E

7. A funnel, if you need to make the inside of the new grip softer by pouring some grip solvent down into the grip.

8. A tee to put in the small hole at the end of the grip, so the solvent will not run out of the grip

That's all you need :cheesy:

And a here's a great free advice :cheesy:

Always make sure to buy plenty of extra grips the first couple of times you install your own grips.

You will inevitable ruin a couple of grips the first time you try to install the grips yourself.

Also you need an extra identical grip to make sure the new installed grip is not stretched too far or too little down the shaft.

You can actually stretch the softer grips by almost 2" thus making them thinner than they're supposed to be.

Therefore check that the newly installed grip matches with a NON installed grip immediately after you put the new grip on.

If it's too far stretched, then pull it back up the shaft a bit and if it's too short then pull it further down the shaft to make it longer.

And also make sure that you turn the club with the fresh installed grip around and bang it hard 2-3 times against the floor to make sure the new installed grip has been pulled all the way down the shaft. This will also press most of the excessive grip solvent out through the small hole at the end of the grip.

Sometimes people tend to forget doing this (Even the guys that do this for a living tend to forget it - I bought two Scotty Cameron Red X putters last year, both 35", but one of the Baby T grips was not entirely pulled down the shaft and had 1" of grip sticking out into the air at the top of the shaft, thus making the club play 1" longer than it actually was supposed to be.

Great advice, Claus. Although about a week too late!

Something I found helpful as a novice regripper is to put a piece of tape in front of the grip on the shaft, and mark the grip alignment on it. Assuming the old grip was correct, it was much easier to align the new grip with this closer mark, than eyeballing the clubs head 3 feet away it as it was going on.

Claus, once again, you are the man.

Steve, it's funny that you should mention the tape around the shaft at the bottom of the old grip, because I was thinking of doing that exact thing to help with both alignment and length of the grip. Glad to know it works.

Thanks to everyone else too. Any additional info on your favorite supplies and/or tricks would still be appreciated.

I wrap a piece of masking tape around the shaft about 1/4" from where the grip would end. This keeps me from accidently stretching the grip and changing the grip size.

do you still need to build up the grip with masking tape if you have smaller hands? or just use the double sided grip tape only?

If you want the grip oversize, you need to use buildup tape. I am talking about using a piece of tape as a marker of where the grip should end and also to insure that you insert the grip all the way. If I want the grips to be slightly undersized, I will use use just grip tape and stretch them 1" longer than they would normally be(hold or tape them in place until they do not slip back). The tape marker helps me install all the grips the same.
