I got a bag of martini tees in June. Since then I have emptied my tee bag twice.

I pick up abandoned tees and have amassed quite the collection.

Wood, plastic, nylon, who really cares?

Martini tee for driver, whatever I pull out for other tee shots.

I will probably never buy tees again.

I use any tee there is........as long as it isn't plastic and its either red, white or black.

There is a local construction/engineering firm where I live and they're always at the fundraiser scrambles I play. They don't care so I grab handfuls of tees with their logo. I'm almost out. Every once in a while, I drive by their office and think I should go in and ask for some. It just seems so pathetic so I dont. :)

I had a gift card to a golf shop and bought some stuff there. Had a small amount left on the card and bought a bag of the Epoch tees. I think that was 5 or 6 years ago...maybe longer. I still have probably 1/2 of that bag left. They do not break easily and seem to last forever.
If I am messing around with my swing, I like the white wooden tees. They leave a mark on the sole of my driver so I get a good idea how the club head is traveling when I make contact by looking at the tee marks.

I like wooden natural colored tees. Just personal preference. No science behind it. And I just bought 1000 3&1/4" tees for $12. Should last me a bit.

I haven't tried the Martini Tees -- interesting.

I usually go with ZF tees - Zero Friction.

I love to support the Original Rainbow Tee. Custom tees which don't break the bank, and support two sisters who are trying to start a small business before they graduate college.

I can't believe the responses in this thread. The OP took the time to ask a legitimate question and no one bothers to give him the inside scoop?

Older, traditional clubs and courses, will expect you to use nothing but natural colored wood tees, no longer than 2 3/4" in height.

Most resort courses, will expect you use Brush Tees or Martini Tees, color not important.

Low down public courses require white, extra tall tees, preferably at least 3" or more in height (having the "blue insertion guide" is acceptable.

If you play at a noveau private or semi-private track, colored wood tees of most any length are acceptable.

If you're playing a Donald Ross design, that's maintained it's prestige and traditions through the years, no tees should be used on Par 3's, just whack the ground with your iron and kick up a little dirt perch for your ball.

All the above, also depends on your equipment, of course.

If you use a low spin, low launching driver and are required to use a wooden tee, make sure you "clip off" the front of the "tee cup", so it doesn't divert your ball on launch. You can use a nail clipper or a small penknife, you keep in your golf bag. Also, the old wooden tees should be angled toward your desired flight direction to neutralize dispersion from the tee.

Remember, multi-colored tees should never be the fluorescent models, unless you playing in a twilight league. (BTW, if you do play in an after-work league, your tees should have advertising on them.)

I hope this helps.
