Rain resistant pants (not packables/goretex)

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a pair of winter pants. I have a pair of GoreTex pants for those REALLY bad days. However, they arent very stylish. So I have started looking for pants that have a slim fit with a bit of waterproofing built in. They don't have to survive a monsoon, but I'd like them to stand up to a few showers... or having rain bead off my jacket onto my pants. Right now, when the rain runs off my jacket it hits my pants and soaks me. I'm not looking to spend a fortune either, so brands like JL, RLX, etc are probably out... unless you can point me towards a good deal. :)

Thanks!

Lululemon is a solid choice and I think UA come out with some new pants called the elemental pants but they may not be slim fitting enough for you.

Managed to get a pair through a friend at a discount. They're amazing. Fully waterproof, but don't feel like you're wearing a garbage bag and they're tailored fit, so they don't fit like you're wearing one either. They stretch, they breathe, and they're a great, slightly heavier, weight!

Hands down best winter/water repellent pant I've ever used. Don't even pack my FJ rain pants in my bag on days I think it MIGHT rain!

those are some serious pants, but for 200 i'd rather get a new driver.

i just go with the champion golf specific microfiber pants sold at target. they are moderately repellent, and since they are a polyester microfiber, they don't really feel wet even if they get wet. wearing them and a light rain jacket and an umbrella if need be, i can walk through a moderate steady rain. and if i put on some long johns underneath i'm good to go for most of the winter. the best part - 30 dollars at target. i own about 5 pair....

take a look at the adidas fall weight golf pants, they are awesome. Slimmer fit, lined, and are water resistance (not fully water proof)

There was a navy pair of fantastic RLX rain pants on BST yesterday for like $85. Which is a steal as I have the same pair and I paid more than twice that for them and still think they were a good value!

Very annoying; they were a steal. I hate the 'unread / no response / sold' BST progression. A story for another thread, I guess.

Thanks everyone for your responses. The Lululemons are nice, but a bit pricey for what I'm looking for... So tells you what I think of the $20 Adidas pants. ;) Thank you for both suggestions though. The Adidas pants look awesome... just out of my price range. Same thing for the Galaway pants.

I have a few pairs of lightweight moisture wicking golf pants like the Champions. Unfortunately, they aren't quite what I'm looking for. I may have to try out the UA Elementals. The RLX pants on the BST are what got me thinking about this actually... :)

The Adidas Fall weight pants are exactly what I'm looking for. Now I just need to find them in a 32. I also like the Puma Lux Tech pants (or whatever they are called). I had a pair and liked the fit and texture. Unfortunately, I bought them a size too small and had to return them. :(
Thank you everyone for the great suggestions. Keep em coming!

I have a pair of ProQuip AquaStrom Pro pants. They're available in several lengths, so you don't look like a clown dragging 4 inches of extra material around. They are a more-or-less traditional rain pant.

ProQuip also sells the Trophy model, currently going for $55 for size 31-33 (29L, 31L, or 33L).

Does anyone have the Under Armour ArmourStorm Rain Pants? I want to know how they fit and if they are worth the $100

That's a "traditional" rain pant, so not necessarily fitted or tailored. Just a pull-over rain pant. They're quality is usually pretty good, but if I'm spending $100, I'd probably get something I really really like, and those pull on rain pants just look so lame on!

I know. Currently, I have the Footjoy lightweight and tour rain pants. While I like them, they just don't fit the way I would like. So I was hoping would be a little better.

Have you tried the Nike modern tech pant? They also have a winter pant for when it's gets colder, a lil thicker but slim and warm and waterproof

Ping and UA do some lined trousers that have a coating to keep most of the dirt and showers out and are very warm.

I think that Nike do a similar product, but I dont own it so cant speak to how good it is.

I have a pair of the Greg Norman Epic rain pants. They look more slacks, have belt loops. I bought them with the idea that if I knew I was going to be playing in the rain, I would not have to wear my Goretex pants over my regular shorts/slacks. They do keep you dry.
My only complaint about the them is for a normal looking pair of slacks, I like then to at least have a crease. These do not. And, to me they look sort of goofy on. Plus, they are just a touch noisy.
But, for the price, and keeping you dry...they work and are inexpensive if you shop for them.

Yeah, and they come in one length because all golfers are exactly the same height. WTF. Why do American companies offer rainpaints with only one length, so we can walk around looking like we just stepped out of a clown car? I love the smell of grass, so it really helps when the Velcro at the bottom of the leg drags along the ground and picks up all the fresh grass clippings.

I have a pair of ProQuip's, and they were available in several lengths. It seems most European companies offer pants in multiple lengths.
