Canadian Courses - Post Your Pics

I thought it might be good to start a thread celebrating some of the amazing courses we have here in Canada - not only as a recognition of the fine golf this country has to offer, but as a coping mechanism for getting though the impending winter!

I'll start with some pics of my recent trip to Osprey Valley, just north of Toronto. We played the two better courses, The Hoot and The Heathlands, both of which were top drawer. We also lucked out with the weather, which was a huge bonus. I loved the Hoot in particular, which recently ranked #15 in Score Golf Magazine's top 50 Canadian Public Courses.

There were some fantastic holes, many of the par 3's in particular. Several of them reminded me of pictures I've seen of Pine Valley in NJ. My favourite was #10 (4th image down). Hitting one of my best shots of the day there probably helped in that regard. By way of comparison, in August I played the 2010 course at Celtic Manor, venue for the Ryder Cup and I much preferred The Hoot at Osprey, which I felt was a better layout, much less 'artificial' feeling and in equally good condition.

Unfortunately my pics don't really do it justice, but here they are. Most are from The Hoot, but there are a few from the Heathlands too.

^ I played Nicklaus North when I was out in BC in 2005. Loved it and your snaps are brining back some fond, and not so fond, memories. I seem to recall hitting a horrific iron shot at the hole in your first picture, which I think is a reasonable length par 3? I think I chunked one and it almost went in the water . It didn't detract from my enjoyment of the course though! First class track and service.

Silvertip #2 tee, one of my favorite shots. The ball stays in the air for what seems like 5 minutes!

Wow, some beautiful courses up there....and the grasses are so much greener, literally.

I get tired of the bluish green bermudas down here in the south.

That looks like it was taken from the fairway of the 3rd hole looking towards the tee box of the 4th hole (to the right of the bridge) on the Links Course.

The 4th hole is the one with the split fairway where you can go over the water to the left fairway (approx 180 yard carry from blues) and have a straight forward 2nd shot to the green or go to the right fairway (with no water carry) but face a 2nd shot over the water unless you can drive it 250 yards or more.

Few shots from Banff Springs from last August. Played a pga tour Canada event outside of Calgary Alberta and mc hammered and came to Banff to play a round. Course was absolutely breathtaking...

Here's a pic of 16 at the links at glen eagles where we event was played. Was 200 yards and guys were hitting pw because it plays -45 and we were 4000 feet above sea level!

Canada definitely has some of the most beautiful courses in North America!

I caddied in that event. What a brutal walk!!!
