This is the Most Painful Pre-shot Routine on the PGA Tour

Andrew Loupe at the Sanderson Farms Monday finish..

@0:48 - "Slow play is an epidemic out here."

If you listen closely, you can also hear the announcers trying to not burst out laughing.

Nothing personal, this is just an observation of his PSR ...

Obviously it works for him, as he's playing on Tour, but it just makes me cringe to watch players like this. Imagine your weekly playing partner taking this much time.. Just freaking step up and hit the ball already!

Jason Day's making a wish before every shot would certainly be grating if it was anyone but a major winner.
[/quote]

It's grating, anyway.

Loupe ought to be put on the clock every time he walks up to a ball.

I get your point but where else did you want him to hit it...left? The pin was a pace off the left side. I watched a bit of him at the web.com tourney in Columbus and he hit it 100yds by his playing partners all hit driver. He can nail it, but I would certainly pull a Sabbatini every freakin' shot before dealing with that. Like you guys said...hitting a wedge ain't that hard.

My point was he spent so much time just hitting to the fat of the green. If you're going to step back five times to check wind...you better be shooting somethin close. Its a wedge man. A wedge. If I were his partner I probably might've instigated by sayin "if you're taking that much time on the wedge shot, save some us some time and just one putt"

Part of the problem, and maybe what needs to be explained to guys that play like this, is that at a basic level it's incredibly selfish. If you're going to take this kind of time on every single shot, you're basically forcing your playing partners to pick up your slack in terms of time your group is taking. I was put on the clock twice this year in tourneys, and both times it was because of one clown like this. One time I was able to get a roving official to follow our group to monitor our play in case we were assessed a penalty and another time I was not. I ended up by rushing my own play in an attempt to compensate for DBag McSlowplay and my own score suffered because of it. If the PGA Tour wants to get serious with guys like this and set an example, they need to start suspending guys from tournaments for multiple slow play infractions and publicize the h*ll out of it. You want to play out here? Fine. Play by our rules, or you don't get the opportunity.

This is why Im watching fewer tournaments each year. It's painful to watch and it's trickling down. The US AM was just as painful

I was watching that earlier and I knew who this thread would be about. I remember he was in the last group at a pga tourney last year and was so slow and deliberate. I get it it's a big stage but the tour really needs to get these guys going
