Used shafts

So GlobalGolf has 15% off used shafts - http://www.globalgolf.com/golf-accessories/shafts/

Also have a couple coupon codes to sweeten the deal:

SHAFTS - An additional 15% off, so 30% off total.

FREESHIP - Free shipping on any order.

It seems all of the promotions are stackable, which makes for some really good pricing. But it's only a good deal if the product is worth it. Has anyone ever bought a used shaft? It seems like they don't rate them the same way they do clubs, so I can't just buy open box or mint and be safe. I just don't want the shaft to break, even if it is cheap. What do you think, is it worth it?

GlobalGolf is a great retailer, I can't imagine that if something happened within a reasonable amount of time of buying the shaft, they wouldn't accept a return. I am not sure what that timeframe is, but I can't imagine if it broke within a month of having it installed (professionally), they wouldn't take the return.

There is some assumed risk of buying used, though. You have no idea the history of the item, and neither does GlobalGolf. If you buy a shaft through them, have a qualified, professional clubmaker (read: not Dick's, Golfsmith, Golf Galaxy, etc.) inspect and install the shaft to your specs. And keep the receipt for the work.

I would read this before buying.

ve bought shafts from them, and the experience was............ok. I ordered a graphite design tour addi 7x. The price was awesome. They sent me a S flex instead of X. I figured it was a simple mistake so I called them about it. They said they would either give me a refund, or they could check to see if they still had an X flex one. I figured they had to have it, and the mistake was simply they packed up the wrong one and the X flex would be sitting where they thought the S flex was. A week later I dont hear anything, so I make a call. Another week later, I still hear nothing so I make another call. Im a little frustrated at this point because it shouldnt be hard to just see if they have something. I finally get a call back telling me they have an X flex and will put the grip I want on it and adapter. They also tell me I can keep the other shaft for the hassle, which I think is fantastic. They then ship the grip and shaft separate which I thought was odd, but no big deal. I go to regrip it and when i take off the old grip, there is a HUGE gouge in it. It seriously looks like a tiger was chewing on it. I wasnt sure if it was a deep scratch or the shaft was cracked and thus compromised. I wasnt calling them back at this point due to frustration so I just put the new grip on and said we will see. Fast forward to now, the snow has prevented me from playing, so I have no idea if its going to be okay or not. I now wonder if the grip and shaft were shipped separate because they knew what was under the grip they sent me. In the end I did get what I payed for I suppose as well as a free shaft, but customer service was at best lacking, and I still dont know if the shaft I paid for is going to work out or not.

Curious, how would they know what was under the grip if you didn't until you took the grip off? X-ray machine?

If the grip was new, they could have taken it off with an air machine in an effort to reuse it and then noticed the damage. Or maybe when it came in to them they were made aware of it by the seller. X ray machine is certainly the last of my thoughts, but theres always that chance! Im not saying im certain they new how extensively it was damaged.. If they new it probably makes less sense for them to let me regrip it, because if they did, I would have not seen it for another few months. That was just a thought.....but its odd they said they would regrip it and then sent them separate.

Regardless of that, still all in all something worth remembering when buying shafts from them.

Not trying to debate and I understand where you're coming from, but I doubt very seriously if they're worried about reusing a grip. I would be, but not them. So you couldn't tell the damage by the grip that was on it?

On a side note for those of you buying the str8fit shaft with adapters and want to remove them. Best to just push that ferrule off with the adapter. Those old NIKE ferrules are a whole different animal. I don't know wtf they're made of, but it don't melt like regular plastic ferrules. I think it's made of some kind of kryptonite. I've pulled a bunch, but after trying to melt and cut off....I invented new profanity.

I hope it goes thru. My favorite radix shaft for $28.

DJ, you must've screwed up. From what I see, after adding both coupons, the Radiz should've came out to $17.49 shipped.

I went with the 39.99 not the 24.99. The 24.99 said co-brand, didn't want a made for.
