Gear Trials Testing:

Testing will takes place today February 6, 2016 from 8 a.m., to 6 p,m., and will be hosted by Miles of Golf in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Its master club fitters will oversee the most objective, transparent driver test we could possibly design.

Each of the 15 GolfWRXers will be systematically fit by Miles of Golf's expert fitters for the leading drivers. They'll hit real golf balls on Trackman, and at the end of the day they'll know what shaft, what head and what setting worked best for each of them. Best of all, each player's data will be published for all to see within a few weeks.

We will publish all the trackman data for all 15 players for their best top 3 drivers that performed the best. Those 3 drivers adn shaft combos went to a final shootout that then determined 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for that tester.

3 Groups of 5 testers. The first three testers will begin testing at 8:30 a.m. Testers will be broken up into three groups of five golfers by swing speed. Each tester will test three batches of nine driver heads (27 total), and will have 28 minutes to test each batch. Don’t worry… it will be enough time. Fitters will identify the best driver or drivers from each batch, and golfers will have an additional 28 minutes to find the best overall driver for them. We’re talking head, shaft, loft, weight setting, lie, face angle… everything. There will be three unbelievably smart and experienced fitters, and each group of five golfers will remain with the same fitter for the entirety of the day. The testing will end at 6 p.m., and testers are expected to remain on property throughout the entirety of the test.

As we work through the heads we have the option to use the testers gamer shaft. We asked each tester for the specs of their gamer shaft and tipping. We then brought that shaft in and added a club connect to it.

Now we can use their shaft on any of the best heads they find. Reduce one variable.

Here are 4 of the 15 shafts with the "club connects" on them. All the heads can attach to any of these with thier respective adaptor.

Are the batches separated by loft? Are there any changes to the settings of each? Face angle, weights, lie etc?

If I didn't have a list of jobs to complete for my aging parents in Toledo I would drive up there to watch this and meet a few of the WRX clan.

Multiple shots with each driver. Batches are separated by adjustability, mostly.

Very interested to see how this turns out for you. I think we both played the BC+ last spring, and now both have 815 with an LZ.

That's what we're all trying to do, keep an open mind. We have to be aware of what we're hitting so we can give feedback, but the fitters have been amazing so far. They're doing a great job of explaining why things are happening and what they're doing to correct it.

Round 1 is in the books and we're starting the second round now. Miles of Golf has a great setup and the staff organized the timing well so we don't get too worn out too quickly.

Zak is making sure we don't hit too many balls on the range, by force if necessary.

Round two coming up..... And yes, Zak is on point.

Just finished my first round--this is fun! No worries about the temps--it's nice and toasty in the fitting bays. Surprise of the first round was the Srixon Z 745. It gave me even better numbers than the G LST, though they were close.

For sure some interesting results after the first round. Fitters finding thing that work that I had written off. Very cool hanging with all these Golfwrx guys, having a blast!
